Passenger mirror dip when doors unlock?
Is it right that the passenger door should dip on an e92 when the doors are unlocked? Does anyone know if this can be stopped or is it a technical glitch with my car?

Not heard of it doing it when you unlock, but if you leave the mirror selector switch to the right, the passenger mirror dips when you put it in reverse - so you can see the kerb better.

Yeah I know it does this when Its put into reverse it seems strange that it decides to move when sitting in park and unlocking the doors!

Take it in. Common fault, do a search, i think for "wandering mirrors" or something... If not search my posts from about 18 months ago.
Mine did it too. They take them off and completely regrease them or something.

Have you got the mirror selector switch on the right?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you also need to have the electric folding mirrors option and 'maybe' the automatic gearbox too, then the mirror will dip when reverse is selected and the switch is to the right

No - the two options it works with are folding mirrors or electric seats with driver side memory (but not part electric ones).

Don't suppose anyone knows how to fix this if they don't dip? Mine is out of warranty so don't really want to go the dealer route if it can be avoided.

I have an E92 with non folding mirrors and my electric seats only have the basic up, down, forwards and backwards (no lumber etc)
My mirror dips when the selector is on the DRIVERS mirror when reversing. One thing to mention is it takes a few seconds for the mirror to dip so wait a few moments. What mine seems to do as someone mentioned above, is go back into some random position rather than the position it was in before it moved! |
