Wire it to a thin red wire with white stripe under the 12v outlet. Then tap into a thick brown wire around there too and it dims with the cluster dimming option.
Just installed some ambient lights around the console and that’s what I did.

LOL.
The ash tray has a tiny LED light that dims and a ring around the 12v outlet that dims too.
The ash tray wires were accessible on my car by removing the shift boot.

I had this happen to my e90. Instead of replacing the pump I replaced the little rubber grommet. If you only replaced the pump, not the grommet, there's a high probably it will start to leak again soon... been 2 years since only replacing my grommet, no leaks

LCI cars are blessed with the almighty BMW "get rid of all the extra wiring harnesses that would make pre-LCI retrofits a breeze" cost cutting measures
I had to make my own harness and splice it in so I'm glad I did it right the first time

Yea, it’s nice to have all the lights dim at the same time.
How about them doing away with pre wiring installed for alarms?!
Glad my pre lci e90 was pre wired.

Ambient lighting around the console and radio/hvac controls. That spool of led rope looked a longer before I started routing it..
I plan to do the doors and might do along the dash trim, IF it doesn’t look like too much. Or just delete the console wiring later.

Performance shift knob installed too.
Also repaired the Tesla shocks I have on the trunk. Now it opens up by itself when I click open.

I probably would’ve never done it had it not been pre wired.
I can’t imagine running the wires through the car up into the rear wheel well then down to the engine cowl.

I still have to do the M3 Servotronic Rack retrofit. I have the rack installed but I need to run the wiring for the electric servo. I also have the wiring for the rear electric sunshade sitting waiting on my LCI sunshade button to come in. And of course, fabbing the harnesses for the rear CA handles. I figured by the time I do the wiring I should be an expert in removing the trims safely/running the wires properly

OK, I'm motivated! I have it on the thick brown common, but it's thick red (maybe with blue stripe?) positive. Will look for the red/white one!

BTW do you have the p/n or link for the trunk shocks? I have some Emeralds I like, but always keeping things in mind for the next car someday!

The wire you’re on must be full 12v all the time.
I circled the red wire with white stripe.
It’s a thin one.

This is the link to the shocks.
Front Hood + Rear Trunk Lift Supports Struts Gas Springs Shocks for Tesla Model 3 (4pcs) https://a.co/d/2Y1ReCy

Some $5 modifications required..
Extension added so trunk fully opens.
The springs need a TINY bit of help to lift the trunk past the heavy point.

Bought a subframe for it and lateral arms. Every bolt is seized in the rear subframe and cant even align the car after a bad pothole encounter. I have an e82 from the Carolinas and every bolt turns like a charm. Need to find a way to coat the new bolts to make sure this doesnt happen again.

Yes please do tell
Through ISTA? Using ICOM? I need to do this before I start my other mods to ensure my custom coding never gets overwritten... and also because I think it will fix my FSC issues for CIC map updates

Updated to the smaller wire, now tied into the light switch. Switched always on didn't bug me too much, but this is better for sure. Still bright, and I may pull off the top piece and put something in to diffuse/reduce the brightness. But might not...

I think I see what you mean.
Adjust the brightness from the cluster.
If it’s still bright, you can install a voltage regulator on the + wire for the shifter and bring the voltage down.
You can also have it always on if you use the original red wire you were tapped into and using a voltage regulator will bring down the brightness.

Really wish they made an illuminated knob for M-Sport shifters.......... I am almost considering buying 2 new knobs (M-Sport and Illuminated ZHP) and fusing them together. That's how badly I want an illuminated M-Sport Shifter lol

That sounds like entirely too much work!!!

Ended up being a pretty productive day. I didn't end up doing much (myself) to the e90, but I did do some damage on a junkyard e90/e91. Last week I gutted a yard e91 for some CA wiring for a rear CA handle retrofit (also pulled some puddle light wiring for rear puddle light retrofit as well)

This week I went back to finish the job since I would need pins for my wiring. The door connector I was working on was luckily still in the car so I just chopped it body side at the FRM module.

Sloppy job really, but I'm glad I had to go back because....

the e90 that was sitting right next to the e91 at the yard had a heated steering wheel!
I gutted the harness and swooped up the lower wheel trim, button included. I have different final plans for the wheel (Heated F10 wheel with Cruise Control delete) so this one might go up for sale since I ultimately might not need it. I really only needed it to gut the wiring harness but the column trim/button was too "rare" for me to pass up

I also came away with some extra goodies including a second puddle light for my rear puddle light retrofit. If anyone wants an LCI headlight switch or a white connector for the budget Euro Foglight retrofit let me know!

After I was finished up at the yard, took the car into my local Les Schwab because they always do good work for me. Needed one of my TPMS sensors replaced because I'm chasing down an intermittent TPMS Inactive Malfunction and I think a dying TPMS is causing it. Oddly enough when the guy scanned my sensors he said they all scanned fine which was weird because maybe 2-3 weeks prior when I went in and asked them to scan my sensors, they said my driver's front TPMS was toast. I opted to switch it with a used TPMS I bought off eBay anyway since the stem was pretty damaged (pictured above) so hopefully my TPMS malfunction doesn't come back. I would have gone new on the TPMS but I am planning on new wheels soon so this is just to hold me over until then. When one TPMS starts to go bad, the rest are soon to follow....

Curiously they didn't charge me for exchanging my TPMS (and they did so against policy: they don't install 3rd party hardware even if it's OEM. They just made an exception for me since I've been in there so often).

They did however charge me for "TPMS Relearn" but I thought BMWs were pretty good with automatically detecting and integrating new sensors without programming/flashing?
I can't imagine they did anything besides the TPMS reset through iDrive. Did they do anything with external programming tools or did I just get fleeced for $25? Lol

Finished off the day by heading to Chevron for a fill-up. Haven't filled up since maybe 2 months ago since the e90 is the weekend car but damn, gas got expensive again
At least it wasn't as bad as me hitting $100+ a tank at one point. That was rough

Damn.... I should make a build thread lol
