Just two quick questions to Eugen:
1) The V1 detects European radars, or only Swiss ones? 2) Is the local police using RDDs? (Radar Detectors Detectors) such as the Spectre? (If yes, I may have a solution) |

Mini-PCI Wireless card maybe...
It'll be nice to install a mini-pci wireless card :rocks:, you can download your OS update, new software and of course, Maps for your PROcede. All from your garage to your wireless router inside your home, or who knows even outside Startbucks.
I like this idea, I'd personally dual boot the pc with Linux and Windows, too bad my car is a lease and I dont plan to keep it for no more than 3 years. |

That looks pretty cool, but to be a little downer... where's the Mac OS X version.

Eugen...thanks for spearheading such an interesting project. Out of curiosity, do you intend to preserve the rearward facing antenna on the V1 once you relocate it?

There was a nice set-up last year posted. I considered an Apple Mini based system. Have fun!

Time for update :o)
Hi everybody,
Needed some time to do a concept and test it to get out most of the technology I have. Goals to achieve : - Reliability & quality - Small size for easy installation - Low power consumption - Vishnu PROcede software support - Innovate Motorsports MTS log chain support ( part of this are configurable gauges ) - OBDII software support - DVD and MP3 player - optional Valentine One remote display - optional GPS navigation system - optional TV ( digital / analogue ) - optional wireless LAN to access the WEB I have found that the car's in-built monitor works too poor for a PC, interacting with the user and displaying DVD's. The resolution is not acceptable for a PC. So I will go for a touchscreen, where the functions listed above are easy to manage. However, the PC has an optional keyboard and mouse connector as well, when you have to deal with more complex tasks ( configuration, troubleshooting, ... ). The mainboard does not come with all connectors required. Computer case and audio connectors are not content of the unit when you buy it. A power-switch and line-out connector had to been made. I am ready now to start the installation. Some things I like to have as remote control and Car-PC specific user interface are not implemented right now. This is just a question of time, but no reason to don't start the install and show you what I do. Motherboard: VIA Epia Pico-ITX (1 GHz Eden-N C7 NanoBGA2 CPU) Chipset: VX700 Memory: 1 x DDR2 533 SODIMM (1GB) Graphics: Integrated UniChrome PRO II 3D/2D 8xAGP with MPEG-2/4 and WMV9 Video decoding acceleration Firmware: v1.04 http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/ma...erboard_id=472 Operating System: Windows XP professional Next posting soon: Location of the computer / case. Enjoy - Eugen Last edited by e.n335; 10-02-2007 at 05:22 PM.. |

as far as the whole PC in the car thing... other people use this exact set of components... so I am sure you will not have problems with reliability.
anyone want more info... www.mp3car.com is a great place to start. Its a very open source community with tons of installations to browse. You can buy all these parts in their store. But the only thing I keep waiting to see is where the heck you are going to mount the touchscreen! So... where you gonna stick it? Also, you might want to consider a smaller dvd drive... I used a slot loading slim laptop dvd drive on mine. |
