Sweet postcard from 1997. I always liked the easy-listening funky vibe of this track. Especially with the guy nostalgically narrating about the San Francisco club scene back in the 80s / early 90s:
"Anything, really, where your favorite DJs were gonna be. But in those days we didn't care about the party, all we wanted to do was to check out the music [...] We were crazy in those days. But you know, we didn't care about the social scene. Like it didn't matter what you were wearing, or who were your friends with, or what you knew or what you didn't know. I don't really understand what's going on now, but in those days we used to d a n c e..."
Dubtribe Sound System - "We Used To Dance (Muzique Tropique's Glasgow Funk Mix)" (1997):

Same kind of vibe featuring a nice build-up:

BRS - "Lovin' Me (BitterSuite Remix)" (2000):

Artemis I've come to learn that your selections are a bit more off the proverbial beaten path. I like that.
I don't know of anyone else that would have highlighted this particular song, but it's one that I like a lot. Thanks for reminding me.

Hearing this (and seeing it) makes me think of me and my son. We were so close when he was little. Now we're so far apart. Makes me sad.

Thank you. I was 20 when I saw them at a little club in Brooklyn, NY. That was almost 40 years ago.

Me Tim

I'll help you. I was born the same year as that sweet split window vette.

We will now return to our regularly scheduled program.

Somehow I remembered this really cool documentary "It Might Get Loud" from 2009 and the part where Jimmy Page teaches Jack White and The Edge how to play the chords for "Kashmir". This is the snippet from that movie. Highly recommend it if you haven't seen it and are a guitar fan.

Original tune of course...

Think I saw that documentary, Tim. Years ago when I was flipping through channels one night. Think it was HBO or some pay channel. Don't think I saw it all and don't remember much of it. Was surprised at how good Jack White was. Of course we all know how good Jimmy Page is. One of the best ever.

Actually, I don't remember where I saw it either as it has indeed been a while. I don't think I paid for it at the time though. I just thought it was one of the coolest docs I'd ever seen. Unique combo of different guitarists gathering.

You're welcome.

"If she was an ace | And I was just a jack | And the cards were never seen | We could have been the king and queen | But she took me back to her courtyard | Where magnolia perfume screams | Behind the gates and the granite | Of the planet of New Orleans"

Great when played on a high-end installation (also on a low-end installation, though).

Dire Straits - "Planet Of New Orleans" (1991):
