Very happy with BMWhat app
Not sure if many people use this app. But I got it last night on my iphone.
App seems a bit steep at £35 but I have used a cheap WIFI adaptor from eBay for £11 Up to now I have coded a few things: Mirrors to fold/unfold with fob Windows up with fob (hopefully roof aswell-raining so can't check) Power to windows after engine off Window to keep moving when door opens Full brightness of angel eyes There's a few modules that it won't let me into, it says that is because I don't have their adaptor, which I may have to buy because I can't get into the module that controls the wipers. Drives me insane that they don't finish the cycle when the engine goes off (it's quite an embarrassing thing for a modern car) All in all though, I am very happy with the app |

It will probably live in that nicely lined cubbyhole below the light switch, just above ODB port. Apparently the android version works a lot better and has more options. You can also read fault codes, I think you can clear them too. I bought it just for the coding |

Before anyone takes the plunge, from their website:
Coding with iPhone: Because of the limitations of the wireless adapters, writing or changing codings via WIFI is only possible with models produced after about 03/2007. Because Apple unfortunately does not allow or support the required USB connection, the app can not code models produced before about 03/2007. For those cards the different coding options are visible, but you can not change them. This limitation can only be resolved when Apple supports USB connection. |

Only kidding just in case the Apple fan boys come out in protest at my comment I have this app on my Galaxy S5 and its really good. It does allow you to check fault codes and clear them but the coding doesn't work on mine due to the Bluetooth odb adaptor that I have. I think I need to buy the cable variety that links to the phone via the micro usb port and then it might allow all the features of the app to start working... but not bad. Anyone have a link to that type of cable ? |

After reading this i got the free app as a trial and it connected, read some codes then allowed me to send report.
So i took the plunge and brought the app which is great with the wifi port i have but its not connecting to allow me to look at the coding i have tried letting it to auto select engine and tried to do manually still no coding options. was there any settings you had to change? |

I managed to get the torque app talking to my car using my cheapo Bluetooth adapter. My next step is to try the BMWhat app, but my car was built pretty much on the cut off point. Will I know from using the trial app whether it can code using Bluetooth?

I'm not 100% sure, if you already have the adaptor then give it a try. The trial version is free and I am guessing if it can read all the modules then you should be able to code. On the trial it lets you change options but then won't let you actually save them

Best money Ive spent on my BMW so far. Ive used it to code 5 BMW's since Ive purchased it a week ago. (paid for the app)
The trial will let you read the modules on the car and not code. Still best money I've spent on my car. |

That's my worry, as I believe the full version will only let you read and not write using bluetooth if I have an older car. I will check out how much the cables are for my Galaxy S3 first!

I read a lot of reviews and all the android users were floating about how they could use Bluetooth and how they could use more features. You can also use a wired connection which I believe are quite cheap.
