V2 Base Datalogs + Heavy Boost Decay?
Hey Guys..
Round 2.. 43 degrees F. Sea Level Altitude.. KN Filter 300 Miles Adap time on Base V2 Map, 06 model with newest ECU update from Dealer Starting in 2nd Gear.. 94.7 Octane, Top of 5th, boost spiked to 15.5 and thru limpmode at about 6600rpms ?? first time this has happened (Fixed, green loom software bug issue uninstalling for now) Seems like i hit about 15psi at 5500 rpms Only, anything before that is weak, everything after that is weak. Car feels slow, PSI thru rpm range is weak.. Suggestions? Torque Values changes?... i miss v1.47 Last edited by rambino; 02-11-2008 at 04:04 PM.. |

you dont look like your holding boost very well....how long have you had v2 installed...maybe your stock dvs are leaking..or maybe you have a boost leak elsewhere. Id go over everything to find the culprit...i dont think this boost drop is normal. maybbe shiv will chime in...hello shiv where r u?

5th gear at 6600 RPM would put you at or above the speed limiter and was most likely the limp issue. The spike was most likely due to the throttle closing.

Are you running a delimited speed map? If not, what map are you running with?

In 6th gear i pass the road speed limiter with no problems.. i guess in 5th gear doing this doesnt work I guess? will have to try again. The car did feel like it hit a limiter (i thought it was rpm limiter, probably was the speed) right before it thru into limp mode, so im thinking you may be correct here. As for leaks. I have the Forge DV coming in next week.. But still I have shit for boost all over.. Being in germany i dont have an easy way to do a leak test since no one in my area out here has any tuning/testing abilites due to all the TUV govt regulations and lack of experience on the 335i Should I install the Bypass Plugs and see if the stock PSI is holding? Will this give me an indication of whether i need to do a leak test or not? Still should i try to adjust my torque values? I know Shiv has been offline since 2-7-08 so im still waiting to hear his thoughts.. Last edited by rambino; 02-10-2008 at 03:01 AM.. |

I hade a similar problem in fifth gear goiag app 150,the solution for me at that time was to reduce the setting to app. 90% .
But that was in september, with the first V2 map.

You cannot try bypass plugs directly as some wires should be added to them first. You cannot go back to V1 since no V1 firmware is available. The only thing you can do is wait for Vishnu support. Getting V2 to work is the long term solution anyway.

Bypass plugs don't have the wires for the delimiter. You can upgrade the V2 bypass plugs further to accommodate the green wire. (Eugen might be able to help you there). Boost leak you don't find by decreasing the boost, though...

My leak test idea was going to be to see if the car can hold stock boost without tapering.. thats why i wanted to try with bypass plugs I just had a new radiator installed.. anyone know if this requires the intercooler to be removed? Maybe the tech didnt tighten things up so well? |

Even with stock boost there is a taper. I dont know if youll be able to find a leak by just putting in the bypass plugs. Normally with the v2 you should see a mx peak boost at 14-15 psi(depending on torque values) and it slowly tapers down to 10-12.5 psi. Yours obviously drops below that so there is obviously something wrong. Ive seen datalogs were the boost remains even in the 13s psi to redline, but with no other mods normally i feel the boost should drop to 11-12psi. With the stock datalog peak psi is about 8-10 and slowly tapers off to as low as 6psi i believe. You should find a method to look for any leaks. Take a look at all hoses and clamps. Check the underside of them as well...i had a tear on one coming from the intercooler on the underside. g/l

im sure they could...but are they mod friendly...i mean what are you gonna say to them...that you checked the datalog on you v2 reader and you should be pushing 12psi to redline? idk if its a good idea. Even with the bypass plugs in you might not see a huge decay like the one you have here. I would check you datalogs with the bypass plugs and see how the boost is running stock. If you are droppiong down to 4psi, then maybe you can bring it to the dealer and tell them it feels like its losing power.
Do you not have any performance shops out there...Like one that even specializes in audis or subarus. They have turbo car knowledge and they could run a leak test for you.

Im still waiting for Shiv to chime in about my datalogs... My other idea is that with the most current ECU update that the dealer did last week, the new program is heavily trying to override the v2 signals? I know for 08 cars to get the Dinan flash, you have to send the ECU in.. could this also be possibility? |

That will be quite hard to do. With the bypass plugs in the PROcede will not receive the signals and cannot display any real data. Hence the name, Bypassing the PROcede...
