Hi guys,

I was just looking over the estimate I received from a local mechanic for an alignment on my 06 330i and I noticed that it explicitly states "Four wheel alignment. **Castor and camber adjustments are an additional charge**".

Can anyone help shed some light? This seems atypical, but I could be dead wrong.

That's his way to slide a fast one by you. Just go to Firestone and ask for their lifetime wheel alignment special for $160. You can have them do the alignment for as long as you own the car. The only thing they don't do on my car is the camber because we have the locking pins (Then again... if you have the locking pins... the camber won't move)

As far as I know castor cannot be adjusted on our cars and camber adjustment requires additional parts/work.

Well how much was the estimate? Maybe that's just printed on all estimates. I get my alignment done at a race shop and a four wheel alignment to spec with adjustable camber plates is like $120.

Just had my 4 wheels aligned at a Wheel Works. They adjusted Toe and Camber front and back. Front individual wheels have a Caster measurement, but not a Spec; there is a Cross Caster specification, and the Before and After Cross Caster were measured to be the same.

All of the above was included at the $110 fee, but I upgraded to a $165 Lifetime Alignment policy providing free alighnment for the life of the car at their recommended 6 month intervals! Only two alignments and the upgrade has paid for itself.
