Save my 335i
2007 335i Conv 130k Auto
Due to a plethra of problems, I was going to get rid of her...but I've have had a change of heart. If I can get this transmission issue diagnosed and remedied I'm going to stick it out. These are the symptoms: These symptoms were rapidly getting worse the last couple months, so much that I had to really lay off the gas to keep the yellow gear error at bay. I reset the transmission adaptation a couple days ago (BT cable) and now all problems are amplified and I can't make it more than a couple miles without the yellow gear coming up...so it's nearly inoperable. Below is my gearbox info and error codes. Any ideas??? 4F82 Gearbox control unit |

I hope I'm wrong but my buddy had similar codes but different symptoms. The gear ratio monitoring code came up and the dealer said the tranny is no good. Another thing is the solenoid but that is also worth replacing the transmission since its deep inside the tranny. A fluid flush and pan won't help. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Hope I am. Good luck man.
How many miles ?

Thanks, me too but it doesn't sound like it. I changed the pan, gasket, and fluid about 10k ago. I also did the shifter wire fix at that time. Where to go from here, should I just replace the whole transmission with a used one? I'll do some research but anyone know off the top of their head how long transmission replacement takes? |

Do a Google search on your codes. You'll find a lot of people, mostly with 5 and 7 series, who have had similar codes and fixed them. If you're good with tools you can pull the valve body off and check for anything obvious and clean it out. Beyond that you'll need to pull the transmission.

The money and time you are going to spend diagnosing it is going to be the same as just getting a used one from LKQ
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-2011-BM...531ebe&vxp=mtr $600 +$150 shipping. I'm sure labor at a local garage is like 5 hours max? all in all your out $1200.
