E90 Reviews on Yahoo! Autos
Sorry if this is a repost, but I found this. Nothing we don't already know, but worth checking out.

Carpoint.msn.com is the worst with the negative reviews. I honestly believe it's a bunch of sales people from BMW competitors that just go on there to bash the brand. I'm sure it happens on other non-bmw sites as well. They're basically worthless.

I actually found that site interesting. It has a better cross section of the average consumer. Of course you need to overlook the one star reviews. Obviously those are inexperienced reviews. But the two through four star reviews are more of what the average consumer is concerned with. The biggest downfall in those reviews is price.
Those of us here love the cars so much we even spend our free time writing about them on this message board. Most of us would pay anything for a BMW. But the average consumer (as these yahoo reviews show) is more price sensitive. This is why BMW must be very careful how they price their models. The bulk of their sales come from the average consumer and not us loyalists on these boards. Anything BMW does to keep the price within reason of the average consumer benefits all buyers. BMW can’t just cater to our needs. They also need to be concerned with a greater cross section of consumers who want more for less. I think sites like the yahoo reviews are good (throwing out the 1 and 5 star reviews). They really show what the average consumer wants in their vehicle. |
