This is so disturbing. I have read TOO MANY posts about the N54 fuel pumps. HOW can BMW put this "Engine Of The Year" now in 3 models and not solve this problem. I am now in a position to afford a 135i or 335i, BUT I am really on a fence about EVER buying a BMW.

Almost months now with my 08 model, no problem occurred yet.. except a couple time where the car takes at least 5 seconds to start... could this be a possible sign?

Ok, they probably would know what I am talking about especially since there is a growing amount of problems with the 335 starting unusually. Hopefully it doesnt come out saying "tech could not duplicate customers complaint" and waste 2 days in the shop for nothing. Thanks!

Just take the car in and get it replaced. No need to worry. I just took my car in for something completely different, but my SA said that the fuel pump was a warranty recall. He brought it up, and now I have a new fuel pump, even though I never had a problem with my old one.

I heard BMW now uses Bosch as the fuel pump supplier and should of fixed this nightmare BS problem. Guess not. I hope BMW replaces your pump with a new one, and its the only one you need replaced. Many have had 2 or more pumps put in, some have had 4. Lemon law time!!!
Alot of dealers act like they don't know anything about bad fuel pumps, if its a recall, ask to see the papers on it. |

Be sure not to waste your time bringing the car in for a long crank. My 07 is doing this and spent 3 days at the dealer. They know it has a the long crank issue but BMW would not replace the pump with the new testing process. BMW (not the dealer) wants to verify the long crank while the test equipment is hooked up to the car. Meaning the fuel pressure test equipment and the link up to BMW. Guess what, the car didn't act up and then yesterday I had about a 10 second crank. BMW said it must have the hard code for the pump set or be towed in. Now that's customer support.
