New PROcede beta maps posted (9-5-08)
Posted here:
http://www.vishnutuningforum.com/for...27&postcount=2 Quick overview: -Now there are dedicated 6MT and 6AT maps. The 6AT maps implement a quick short-term boost drop between shifts just to go easy on the torque converter. Without it, there is a big torque spike that otherwise occurs during shifting. You can measure this on a dynojet if you actually run up through the gears during a test. -Dedicated Doomsday and nonDoomsday maps. This means that Map1 and Map2 are low boost and full boost versions of that map, respectively. -Default User Torque has been set to 80%. It is recommended that all initial testing be done at 80%. Those who want to maximize power should only adjust upwards once initial adaptation is done (50 miles of driving). Rule of thumb is that 91oct guys could end up running 80-85%. 93-94oct guys could end up running 85-90%. Of course, a lot will depend on conditions (temp, cooling, altitude, etc,.) The difference between 80 and 90% is approx 1psi. For the time being, Doomsday map users should NOT raise the User Torque values. Please wait for further instructions if this applies to you. What you may notice: -All Doomsday maps are limited to 10-11psi until ~4500rpm and then ramp upwards after that. We are a bit more cautious than others when it comes to 29.2 and up diagnostics. For reasons that will be revealed soon. Currently working on some firmware updates that will address this and allow more low-midrange boost to be supported safely. -All maps should acheive peak boost by 5000-5500rpm. With default user torque settings, Stage 0 maps have a peak boost of 12.5-13.5psi depending on conditions. Stage 1 13.5-14psi depending on conditions. Stage 2 14-15psi depending on conditions. Please note: Due to our geography, we haven't been able to do any very cold weather testing. Unless you consider 60F very cold Nor have we been able to do any very high altitude testing just yet (the highest we have here is 3500-4000'). Soo... please use your discretion when adjusting UT values if you just happen to live on top of a mountain in Alaska. Rule of thumb is to run slightly less boost pressure at high altitude to ease strain on the turbo. For instance, if you live at 6000' above sea level, the max boost you should shoot for (measured in datalog) should be 13.5-14psi@5500rpm. Boost readings from a gauge can be deceiving in such instances because some gauges reference off of atmospheric pressure while others read absolute pressure from a MAP sensor and translate that into boost assuming standard atmospheric conditions (like the PROcede software). More maps with Traction Nanny enabled and Map2 default coming later this week. Also, depending on feedback and more testing, we may also release another bunch of beta maps within a couple of weeks. Among these will be the "lag fix" as well as an easy diagnostic that will let you know if it applies to your car. Cheers, Shiv Last edited by OpenFlash; 09-08-2008 at 07:35 PM.. |

so these maps do not incorporate the changes made in the previous "lagfix" map? What improvements does this map offer for a 6MT car?

Hi Shiv, for the first time ever in almost 3 months the V3 is not giving me limps since I loaded the Beta Map 1.30 Stage 2 (I have catless downpipes by RR and Gruppe M airbox), the one you posted in July I mean.
As you can surely understand I am not exactly willing to change something which is finally working properly on my 335i. So the question is: what about if I keep running what I am currently running? Will there be any trouble or should I keep expecting this kind of "stability" I am finally experiencing? I mean, I know that beta maps born last july didn't even have an AT/MT difference among them, but as a matter of fact Stage 2 proved to be a very fine work at least to me. Thanks for answering (p.s. my 335i is an AT)

Ciao Nick, of course I already thought about such back up plan, point is why should I stop using an 87% map which is running perfectly to start using an 80% map, I mean if I am not running any risk in using the map I am currently using........

Great to hear shiv. I have a couple clients who are running V3 and will be getting these updates very soon.
What are the changes for doomsday, would it be worth it for me to go get the car and have it updated from the last maps?

shiv...this is the best map i've used thus far. improvements i've noticed with stage0 over 7-11 maps:
-FAR smoother -boost response feels like it takes half the time and far more stable -picks up and goes, and very consistent throughout the powerband -no more jerking after letting off the throttle(especially after light throttle) -i can keep it at 80% without lowering it(on crappy hawaiian 92oct) haha -damn car feels most alive now than ever even though it was hotter weather today. so far no limp modes. i've only hit limp mode twice before and they both came from right after flooring it during adaptation with 7-11. i'll do some data logs and record the time from 0-60,100,120,130 tonight and compare to the 7-11 maps. shiv, is the timing in the datalog software creditable? also im shooting you a PM about something else, hopefully you'll have time to answer :-) teri
