If you want to get picky, even the stock exhaust with the actuated flap open permanently has some drone.
Active Autowerke is probably going to be the quietest one by design.

I'm completely catless and have no drone with the Autobahn Exotics exhaust. Obviously it's going to be a bit louder than stock, but there is no drone. Others with this exhaust will agree

I have the Active Autowerke catback. Just installed it. It currently has a leak that I'm getting fixed this week. It has the slightest bit of drone right as you pass about 2200-2500rpm on mid throttle input. It's not too bad at all. This is my first time having an aftermarket exhaust so my primary focus was getting something that would benefit the car without being too obtrusive. I'm pretty happy with the AA (assuming I get this leak taken care of).

i think it because i've seen it happen first hand numerous times. I mean with auto and even a simple golf tee mod, it drones slightly. But yea back to the subject at hand, there are countless examples i've seen in person where 6mt doesnt drone, but auto does. Longtran (6mt) had eisenmann race exhaust (sec3). We all heard it/sat in it and there was absolutely no drone. Another member got the exact same exhaust on his auto 335 and it droned so bad to the point where he took it off and sold it only after a few months of use.
Another member Jasonn had the full fakesmann exhaust (sec 1,2,3) and he sold it to another member who had auto. Jasonn is a close friend and so i've driven and sat in his car many times and it sounded great. Loud but no drone at all even at highway cruising speeds. The guy who bought it put it on and immediately noticed it was ridiculously louder and the dronning was unbearable. He also took it off i think within a few weeks of putting it on. I mean these are just a few of the countless examples i've seen first hand. My friend had just Borla section 3 and it STILL droned on his auto. And Borla is one of the known companies to produce quiet exhausts. I had RR Catless Mid pipes on a otherwise stock exhaust and it dronned as well. List goes on. |

cp-e offers their exhaust with an optional set of resonators in pipes immediately after the downpipes for those wanting it a little quieter and completely drone-free. I'm getting it done and will put sound clips up for comparison.

I only like to speak from experience so I can only comment on having an exhaust with a 6MT. My old CP-E exhaust had ZERO drone at any type of highway speed/cruising. My new eisenhaus setup is certainly different, but even that at highway cruising doesn't have any drone on my 6MT. Does the auto have the same problem with drone if you leave it in manual mode?

i drive an auto and i've had a few exhausts on my car trying to eliminate the drone.
the worst was eisenmann race - had it on the car one week before changing. the best has been the bastuck - still on the car and has very little if any drone after installing the bastuck i did the 2nd cat delete - no observable drone i know someone with a stock exhaust who did a 2nd cat delete (also on an auto) and there was no observable drone.
