335i torque concerns
i remember reading a car magazine (i forget motortrend or automobile or some others) where a BMW rep was talking about the new 335 TT engine. when talking about the numbers he said that they could get more torque out of the engine but they didnt have a tranny that fit into the 3 that could handle the extra torque. i know the eningeers tend to over-engineer their products so theyll last but what if thats the case here? with the tuning possibilities of a TT engine, we can expect 350-400+ hp and similar TQ with some tuning and some mods but what can you do to reinforce a tranny? do you have to replace it with aftermarket?

Lol well to mod it you'll need parts, and companies are going to take a while before they introduce new parts. I mean c'mon the car isn't out yet, we haven't even tested its capabilities stock. There are many possibilities but thats with many cars, you'll need time and patience.
I guess it'll need a new tranny to handle all that power then, good luck getting a transmission that can handle it as smooth and up to BMW standards any time soon after the release of the car. |

When they say "handle" for the automatic they also mean last a long time (at least 100k miles). People who are going to be modding for excess amounts of power would get a manual transmission anyway which with the proper shifting techniques the biggest worry would be just smoking the clutch more than likely.
