GIAC Stage 1 vs JB3 2.0?
Hello! Has anyone experienced both, the JB3 2.0 and GIAC (stage 1) on a 335i? Both are viable alternatives for me, but was wondering how they compare in drivability/power lag in their current versions. I'm sorry if I'm starting another tune/piggyback war...I did multiple searches but all comparisons referenced the JB3 1.4. (flame jacket on)
Thanks, Majdi |

I had done quite a bit of looking into the GIAC tune and they seemed to be making good power with just a flash. From what I have heard and read you would need to go with the stage 2 to be more on par with the JB3 2.0. People like how the GIAC flash is "supposed" to have more control over the car because it uses the OBD2 port. I am just still a bit skeptical of the GIAC and other flashes as they are just now being released into the market, while JB and Vishnu etc have been around since the cars were released.
Another thing to mention is when I contacted our local GIAC dealer here he hadn't done any BMWs and wasn't even 100% sure they could do it but had to call the main office. That turned me off to the flash right now. |

I'll have a detailed chart by next week that differentiate each tune

Any other feedback? Sorry for the self-bump...just trying to make the right choice before I invest in one or the other. I wish there was someone w/ a JB3 2.0 or GIAC tuned 335i either in Eastern NC or the DC area that I can test drive/ride.

No experience with 2.0 here. However plenty with 1.4 and all of the previous JB3 releases. JB3 is awesomely strong and reliable tune and I'm sure that 2.0 is better then ever! I was just looking for set and forger type of tune. GIAC S1 would compare to MAP5 in terms of power, around 13.5-14psi. IMO the best way to experience them is to try them both and decide.
Myself I could say that I was pretty shocked (in a good way) when I flashed my car with GIAC S1 last year. It all depends what you looking for in a tune and to some JB3 is more suitable then GIAC. These days I'm adding an ETS IC an aiming at Stage 1+ when released. BTW recently retrofitted an oil cooler at the dealer. My car was there for 2 days with main tech doing the install and test driving the car with GIAC installed. Did not say a word! Wondering what info you'll have on GIAC.

Ordered a JB3 yesterday.
But really, I´m just waiting for the flash market to take over things. Once they start releasing handheld flashers I believe they will take over. What do Subies and Mitsubishis use? No piggies there. It´s just that. You flash and forget. Anyhow, for now. I´ll wait for the flashers to develop and release newer maps. |

Sorry is taking longer than I expected. But I'm doing as much research as possible before releasing it to the forums.
For now, e90post, n54tech, and [Admin Notified] are great starting points to filter out information. There are people constantly updating information.

When is the GIAC Stage 2 coming out? I had a JB+ and wasn't very impressed with the instability of the tune. Whats the price? I'm assuming around 800?

AltecBX, thanks for the tune comparison chart (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=374508). If anyone has further first hand experience btwn JB3 2.0 and GIAC, you're welcome to chime in.
