Emails from my domain going to SPAM on GMAIL
Gentlemen...
I have a new email domain for my business. I am having a major issue... When I send emails to people they often wind up in their SPAM folders. This is happening with virtually everybody who uses Gmail. I don't want my emails to be missed...what steps can I take to stop this from happening? Thanks in advance. |

called rbl (remoteblacklist). Someone will have to prove you don't have a spamer on that ISP before its unblocked

What ISP do you use? You should really talk to them and get them to do their job. They probably had someone from another domain they provide service to send out a large volume of mail and that got them on the RBL. You really can't do anything as such.
This might help - Im not sure if spamhaus provides RPL updates to others or not.. I think it works that way.. http://www.spamhaus.org/ Now if it only happens to your customers who use gmail, then thats probably a different issue. Some mail service provides (like AOL or yahoo), will have a limit on how much mail they receive from a certain domain. Once that limit is hit within X number of hours, they will 'throttle' them. You will have to enter into discussion with the google folks that they need to put you into a different class so it won't throttle at such a low level. In some cases, you might have to reduce (using some queuing) the volume you send out at once.

Actually RBL is real-time blackhole list, but close enough. It's probably not a RBL issue anyhow as the email wouldn't end up in the users mailbox at all, it'd simply be blocked at the connection level. Since the mail is ending up in the mailbox but labelled spam, it's probably just some sort of filtering, the Google equivalent of SpamAssassin or whatever.

How many people at a time are you sending to GMail accounts?
What is the content of your messages? It's sometimes easy to find that "normal" conversation gets considered spam. I use the Google Spam filter as our external service. SOMETIMES things that seem innocent as a whole will trigger a spam response. And if you include your return email address too often in the message, spam gets triggered for too many @ s in the message. |

If it is truly just mail messages being flagged as spam then the general solution is to have the recepients place your address in their 'contact' list. That fixes it most the time.

Have you looked at the email header in gmail to find out why its being flagged as spam? It could be either a reverseDNS issue, a blacklisted host, a SPF DNS conflict, etc.
Once you know why its being marked as spam you can start to fix the actual issue.

Ultimately it is the ISP that is hosting your email accounts. Is your email domain / SMTP on a shared web server? If so, someone else on that server has been sending bulk messages that gmail is blacklisting. FYI: If you are going to spam folders on Gmail, you will soon be going to SPAM on many other mail providers as well.
I would outsorce your email to a company that can guarantee inbox delivery. |
