Unsure whether i should sell or keep it long term
Hey all - Wanted to ask you all for some of your opinions. Back in July I bought a CPO 09 328xi coupe that was 8 months old. It currently as about 11k miles on it, perfect condition, pretty much loaded except for sport package and that cruise control feature. All in all, wonderful car that i love staring at in the garage. However, since i moved out and into the city, it basically just sits there as the 3rd car that doesnt get much usage at all. I'm slightly worried about depreciation, but i already know the big hit has been taken and now it will slow down. Original MSRP ~$50k. Bought for ~$38k. Keep it long term, or take the hit and sell it for like ~$30k? Thanks for your advice! |

Id keep it, because you have already paid the depreciated value, selling it would increase that cost. Despite the fact that you had a good deal for it, at 30k~ you would have lost 8k, and also at that price any would rather get a 335i. I am in the same boat as you, deciding whether to keep it or not, but I'd have to go back to Indonesia, so I'd have to sell it no matter. But the most cost efficient thing is to keep it until its worth about 15k or 10k which is in about 8 years? hahaha.. Its a nice car to drive around.

If it's just going to sit there, then sell it. To me, the car was ment to be driven and not just stared at in the garage.
