2008 323 e90 miss power/jerk while accelerating from 0.
Hi guys, I have 2008 e90 323i.
Today while standing on the traffic signal, when I accelerated, I noticed my car had a jerk like it miss fired and then accelerated. It gave 1 sec phase and then picked up. This doesn't happen when I accelerate while driving but only happens when I kick off from 0 speed (stand still). I am not getting any warning or not lights. I am also noticing any difference except it pause in acceleration while taking off from stand still. I also noticed the overall instant pick up from 60-80 or 80-90 has decressed and the RPM doesn't shot instantly while I paddle on gas for more power, it moves slowly. this has happened after this issue or may be I am imagining. Does anyone has any idea what this can be or bigger (serious) problem it is ? Note - when I slowly paddle on gas, I do not feel the jerk but thats deliberate as with normal driving we paddle a bit more while taking off dorm 0. Looking to hear your expert advise, thanks. |

No expert here but we had a jerk on our 335 during initial acceleration (though it was mainly after a cold start) and replacing the spark plugs helped.

I'd check for a vacuum leak.

First step would be to find a diagram for your car and visually inspect them, replacing any dry/cracked ones.

Unfortunately, not if its not throwing codes. Only thing you could do is replace them all because you could try buying one and testing it by switching them out one at a time until it stops but what if there's more than one or all are messed up? You'd be screwed.

I notices when it's cold (I start in cold Melbourne morning) it doesn't jerk. It only happens when it runs for a while (2-3kms) and then also it only jerks while I accelerate from 0 speed. It doesn't jerk when accelerating from 10-20 or 40-50 or anything.
Does it still sounds like ignition coil problem? |

Hard to say really. Injectors are pricey and so are coils. It might be easiest and cheapest to just start with your plugs cause it could be that simple. Also just curious AT or MT?

Could be your plugs. A couple of months ago I was getting a misfire/jerk but only when I tried gunning it while cruising on the highway. No codes were thrown. The vehicle’s performance had been a bit sluggish as well. It was about time to change the spark plugs anyway and it would be a relatively cheap fix compared to the coils or worse, injectors. I did the plugs and haven’t had any issues since.

how many miles on car?
have you tried to get codes read? when I had an ignition coil problem I could get misfire codes without the service engine light coming on. I also had a dirty mass air flow sensor that was sending codes and similar problems like yours when cold. There is a DIY on cleaning it and a can of MAF cleaner should cost you around $10. I also would try this: Once the car starts jerking don't let up on the gas and force it to keep jerking and I bet the service light will come on and the car will continue to jerk through all RPMs. You can fix it by turning off car and pulling out key. I have all the diagnostic software so it was easy to solve. You might want to look into getting something similar. |

Hard to say without any codes or being able to read the codes. Could be a laundry list of things or could be something as simple as just needing new plugs. Being able to read any codes that the car has stored is the best way to help pinpoint the issue though.

Hi guys, I showed my car to mechanic and it came up with A127 code. Just wondering if anyone knows about this code? Mechanic said it's not coil or spark plug issue as car is not vibrating or shaking on stand still.
He asked me to drop the car so that he can have a look n investigate as he needs to check fuel presure etc. but can't say anything precise wat the issue can be. Just wondering if anyone knows wat code A127 incorrect signal from engine management means? Thanks. |

Sounds like you'll have to let them perform the proper diagnostic to figure this one out. More light can be shed if he performs a full system scan on the car...if he has an enhanced bmw scanner.
