i believe it.

think where canon has been concentrating. only on bigger megapixels. their image quality was already pretty good years ago, their processing power on the other hand wouldn't have been able to keep up with what the 7D can process now with the size of sensor.

their attention goes into ISO handling, megapixel handling, and processing, and auto focus.

and funny enough, the 7D has slightly better image quality then the 5DII

That's pretty sad. I mean yeah, you can shoot faster (meh), have higher ISO (that's good, but noise is about the same), more MPs (I couldn't care less), and better AF (definitely an advantage), but after all that, the IQ is similar?

Hmm... I must be missing something. Because, why would I ever ever upgrade to a 7D?

it also processes the info differently with the 4 processors.

so it can affect the image quality in different ways like giving the pictures more depth and such.

look at colour depth as well as contrast comparisons. how many bits is the 20D vs the 7D

but for the most part you are right. it all comes down to the speed and handling of the camera.

oh, and the weather proofing on the 7D is a lot better

you're paying for size, speed, megapixels, AF, and weather handling.

compare your image quality to the 1D market, they aren't far off either.

yeah, that's true. but 7 years is a long time... according to that site, those Nikons are killing Canon on pretty much everything but fps and MPs.

yup, that's why i'm going to wait a while and see what sort of reviews come for the 5D3

i think it's all going to be megapixels and ISO handling and nothing more.

and lets be honest, at 30+ megapixels, then you have to start comparing the camera to a medium format for quality.

Dave, I thought these videos were pretty cool... but, since you actually own this lens, I figured that you might appreciate these more.

The Canon 15% off refurb deal is gone. Back to normal prices.

Kudos to those who got lucky and grabbed something.

every time I go to 500px.com to check out some new photos, I'm reminded of how crappy my photos are in comparison to most of these.

Ah, but that's half the battle. Most photographers have no idea how bad their images suck. Keep closing the gap.

So... I had an interesting conversation from a Canon rep a little bit ago.

I bought two lenses from the Canon refurbished sale, each in its own order, because stock was super low and I couldn't order them both at the same time in a single order.

Anyways... I basically had to "verify" my information three times for them to put the order through accounting. I have an AMEX with no limit, so that wasn't the issue. It's almost like they didn't want to sell me the lenses. They kept asking my why I wanted to purchase them. To shove high-quality glass up my ass for pleasure? What did they think I was gonna use these lenses for?

They were supposed to ship on Monday according to Canon... so far? still being "verified".

Then, I got this call 20 minutes ago telling me that any additional order I place at Canon will be automatically cancelled and that if I want to buy more I should call Canon and set up a reseller account with them. This was a voicemail they left me.

I almost feel like I should call them back and say "wtf... this is for personal use douchebags, I'm not a reseller. They were just on sale and I wanted to upgrade my lenses." ugh... talk about piss-poor customer service... all this for two f'n refurbished lenses!

wow, that's unreal.
Now you have to not return that lens. I mentioned it to someone who might be interested.
When they cancel the order, let them know Nikon does not do that bullshit and you will be visiting them shortly.

Geez, that sux. It's not like you bought 3 of each. I wonder if they're hassling everyone who bought something.

yeah, I dunno... I've calmed down a little. My order status still shows "pending verification" though. I guess they may call me up and ask me for a vial of blood this time to make sure I am me. I should just send them a stool sample instead...

well, since you've already received a lens from them, you have their mailing address, so the stool sample should be pretty easy to send away.

would probably fit fairly well in their packaging too!

That's a useless review. Look at something meaningful, like DPReview.com

The detail from my 7D will blow your 20D into the weeds, at any ISO.
