Cobb tunning Access port vs. JB4
I need your advice; I\'m getting ready to purchase Cobb on EBay for $827.00 when I started reading on JB4 for only $450.00. but it really comes down to performance for me and this is where I need your advice of which one will provide a better result. Thanks

What you are asking is similar to the question of PC vs. MAC, Raider's vs Niners, chocolate or vanilla...
I suggest that you read through this tread. http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=58 Get as much information as you can and narrow your questions down. |

If you decide on Cobb, I suggest you forget about the Ebay guy and PM Jeff@topgearsolutions. I bought the Cobb AP from Jeff about a month or so ago. He gave me a great price and great service. And I totally love the upgrade!!!

Biggest difference is that JB4 you can switch tune modes while the car is on..where the
Cobb does not. You have to install it before you drive.although it takes less than 2min. to switch from stock tune to stage 1 or stage 2. |

The Cobb AccessPORT ECU Flash simply replaces conservative factory settings with more aggressive calibrations that result in impressive gains in torque and horsepower while still maintaining a high degree of safety for your N54 engine. The tuning is extremely flexible and allows you to choose on the fly one of the performance maps that are loaded onto the AccessPORT.Typical performance gains from the Cobb AccessPORT are increases of 30% peak horsepower and an amazing 38% increase in peak torque. This tune is an ECU flash, not a piggy-back tuner, there will be no added devices to your vehicle's ECU.
You will get a whole lot more functionality and accessibility with the COBB AP. You do get free software and map updates for life that be downloaded straight from the COBB AP Manager software. Not to mention that the COBB AP does allow for you to do live data logging, trouble shoot and scan codes, and of course switch maps on the fly as well! Installation is simple and it literally takes 10 minutes to download your stock map to the COBB AP and 8-10 minutes to flash your car to the stage 1 map. You can also export your stock map on your computer to back it up just in case you do ever lose your COBB AP Hand held unit. You can also export all of your data logs to your PC as well. I'll go ahead and shoot you over a PM with more details!! |

Basically if you have any kind of mechanical knowledge and you want the most power then you go JB4. JB4 has the most cars in the 11second range.
Use this chart for comparison: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=374508 Also, I am not sure how much I would trust Cobb after this fiasco: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=574781 Releasing Beta maps that cause transmission issues? No thank you. Only reason to go COBB is if you do not like messing around under the hood or you are not able to. Then you can just go Cobb which requires plugging into the OBD and that is it. Also, enjoy: Faster car = JB4. |

If you want straight performance, definitely go with JB4 .. use the savings over the Cobb to get a meth kit installed also to take advantage of the race maps and you will be extremely satisfied!

JB4 all the way! I had the JB3 which was awesome and now I have the JB4 which is incredible! The power is very smoothe and being able to switch maps on the fly is really nice to have. The sweetest part about the JB4 is the adjustable shift light and how u can turn ur gas gauge into a boost gauge! Plus if you've heard of the "golf tee mod", the JB4 controls that can flap which I love because the car sounds much berlier at idle. Also the "max cool mode" is a must for in between races to cool off ur engine if you don't have an oil cooler. Hope this helped. Love the JB4 if u can't tell
