Latest pics of MB's oppisition to the E90 3...
New C - class
It may do everything a lot better than the previous model, but not only do I doubt it will drive better than the E90 3, it will once again be overpriced... model for model. How would you like an 06' C350 sports sedan for $45k?(even more w/ tax & liscence) |

acually mercedes have a lot of rebates and can usually be gotten for invoice + fess.
before i ordered my car i checked them out and the fleet manager came out and just flat out said i can get any 2006 c-class for invoice+ fees or 2005 c-class for invoice - rebates + fees. but i decided not to get 1, because of the "electrical problems" and the negative reviews they have. |

my wife has a c180k and its a lovely car, 100% reliable and fear not, it is no true competitor to the e90.
the mb has a different driving style and characteristic about it. even compared to the e46. it really is a very nice car, just not our style of car.

MB doesn't compete for the same type of customer as BMW does in the entry level market. BMW drivers look at the new C class and ask, 'who cares?'. Merc drivers look at the e90 and ask, 'what's the point?'.
There might be the odd brand name shopper that cross shops both, but ultimately they fall on one side of the fence or the other. I would say it's more Merc vs Lexus & BMW vs Audi than BMW vs Merc. As much as Lexus would like to steal market share from both MB and BMW, they're really only getting MB shoppers. |

The Mercedes machines are competing more against the Lexus machines than BMWs (and this despite the publicity bravados). MBs are more luxurious, comfortable high speed cruisers than turn carvers.
The new C class will not deviate from this path. I have seen photoshopped interior shots several months back - it will (if true) look a lot like a mini S class; in fact so will the new 2009 E class as well. If quality is again job one at MB (which I truly hope), it will give Luxus a true run for their money. The true competition for us would come more from a combo of Audi and, in NA, Infinity with the new G-whatever and the Infinity version of the new Skyline GT-R. IMHO |

the rear looks like the new SLK and the new S class tail lights...guess they're going for that for all MB. Wonder how impressive is it going to be...

I never liked MB after I drove my dad's old E class up to SF one time when I was 16. Worse drive of my life. My friend got a C class right after I bought the 3, whether it was bias or not, I felt it being less comfortable inside and the drive is no where close to my car. Most of my friends concur and even that friend who got the MB thinks my car drives better. He only bought the MB because a friend of ours is a fleet manager and got him the car under invoice.
Definitely more expensive looking though.
