oil change question
On the computer of my car, everytime I turn off the car the "engine oil" display always comes up and i don't know why. I went to my dealer and they say my oil change is not due yet.
but when i check the oil level on the computer myself, on the display it states, "oil level down to minimum." Now, what's wrong? |

Check your engine oil level, is it low? How many bars? Sounds like you need to add a quart, doesn't mean you need an oil change. BTW, how many mile do you have on your car?

So, do you buy and add the oil yourself? or go to the dealership? |

As HRC correctly said, it seems that your oil level is low. Generally when there is a problem, the car will remind you upon switch off to attend to the matter. Things like fuel reserve, low oil (as in your case) etc.
Check it out carefully but if you do need to top up the engine with oil, put exactly what has been requested, not more. Even erring on the cautious side is better than overfilling. You can either DIY with fully synthetic oil as stated in the manual or at least buy the oil from the dealer but fill it yourself if the want to charge you for it. Take care.

I would take it to the dealer and let them top it off (for free). If your OBC says you need oil, then you need oil. Whomever you talked to at the dealership was stupid not to realize or tell you what that meant.

I would add oil my self. It takes time to get to the dealer + 20 min service + time to get home. I think $5 for oil is better than waste time. Anyway, I always carry oil in my trunk, just in case something happens on the road and I won't be stuck in cold until tow truck arrives.
