New "Navigation Home" Voice Command
For those that don't yet know, Progman 25 (perhaps even an earlier progman) now includes a function that supposedly allows you to simply say the voice command "Navigation Home" and the system will automatically start guidance to the HOME address listed in your address book.
However, the function appears to be malfunctioning. Instead of navigating us HOME, it is navigating us back to the LAST destination for which navigation was activated (which, of couse, may or may not be Home) Could someone PLEASE test this function in their car for me and let me know if it is actually taking them to their Home address, or if it is navigating to their Last entered address (of course, the last address can not have been home or the test will be meaningless)? I'd like to know if this is just OUR system that is malfunctioning (we're having some intermittent iDrive issues), or whether this is a systemic glitch in the Progman -- before I take the car back to the dealer. Many thanks. UPDATE - There is no "Navigation Home" function. See my June 16 3:36PM post below for explanation.

I tried it and it directed me not to my home address but to the last address navigated.
I have the latest and greatest update. Had it done on Tuesday. Not sure of the version.

I hope others chime in here for some additional data points, but it looks like it may be systemic.

I think I started this confusion a month ago. hehehe sorry-
No such feature exists, it was just routing me back home(or last destination) since I turned off navi while pulling into the driveway. It is kind of annoying you can't use voice recognition to quickly route to an address though- |

I like on the Acura/Honda, you say "Go home" to route home.

However, check out this guy's response on the main forum -- especially his last two sentences: "I tried it and it works. It navigates to my HOME, not the last destination, that was different than my HOME. This is a nice feature. Also, I told it to NAVIGATION "NAME OF DESTINATION" and it did THAT too. So, it works with named destinations. L" WTF?

It says "Guidance Started" and draws out the route.

I'll try this later today.
Is there a new VR commands list for the latest progman update?

I tried what the OP purposed and when I use voice command " navigation home " it routes me back to the previous navigation destination. It is the same result as the OP.
Note, that I just had my iDrive updated last week so I think that it would be the latest version of the update. |

Hmmm... I think I'm still with BK in that it is trying to resume destination "navigation on". Dunno. Anyway, it doesn't offer much advantage.
Now if someone can confirm they can get their nav to take voice inputs for stored addresses, we're on to something. |

1) "navigation home" calculates directions to my last navigation address. In fact, I said "navigation home" or "navigation" and either way took me to the last address. 2) "navigation <item from address book>" did not work. I can get to the address book with voice commands, but could not make it calculate directions to an item in the address book by just saying: "navigation office" for example. I have 25.02.00

Yup, what BK, I and others have been trying to state and now what I expect can be finally put to rest -- that "Navigation" is simply defaulting to last place entered since it doesn't have any new voice entry for the address book (which is a crime , since the voice entry feature for new addresses works surprisingly well and so does the phone book. In fact, in my mind the better "listening" ability of the Navi seems to be one of the only signficant improvements to my last version). It would be nice to know what version I have, but none of my paperwork has it. |

Original Poster here -
Thanks for all of the replies in this thread and the duplicate thread in the main forum. So . . . it appears that there never actually was a "Navigation Home" function. In Progman 25, and probably earlier versions also, one can speak "Navigation ON" and the guidance will start to the destination currently in the system (the last destination navigated to). This "Navigation ON" command causes the same effect as saying "Start Guidance". Now here's the deal: When we are saying "Navigation HOME" the system thinks we are saying "Navigation ON" and simply starts guidance. It has no idea where Home is, and it doesn't care. It's just starting guidance to the place it THINKS we want to go -- the destination in the cue. By the way, simply saying "Navigation" does not start guidance, but brings up the Navigation screen only. Mike
