Stock Shocks with Sport Springs???
I was wondering if there were any issues installing H&R Sport Springs on stock shocks. I'm scheduled to do this on Friday...can anyone provide some quick feedback?

9/10 people will tell you that this is a bad idea:
"...I did it once and had to change to full coils later on and wasted money for no reason" "...it makes the car too bouncy and the ride isn't as good" "...it will make your shocks blow" cheaper isn't always better.. I want to lower my car too but I am holding off until my current sport suspension gives way to save myself the money (I would consider the H&R Cup kits with the matched dampers or get full Coils either by ST or KW if you can afford them) |

I'm running Eibachs on my stock springs with no issues. Running after market springs will wear out your struts faster. Ride em till the struts go and you can upgrade your struts to something better like koni yellows or others.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'll proceed as planned. A friend recommended buying absorbers for the front suspension (part # 31332225377) so I'll add that to the install as well.

It is a possibility that you could blow your shocks. Most likely not though, with the H&R race springs it's a little more risky but you should be okay on the sport springs.

I was running H&R Sports on my e92 for 3 months before i upgraded my shocks to The Koni yellows. I personally dont care for comfort even though it is my every day car, so I was fine with the ride, but it was bumpy indeed.

I'm running H&R race springs on stock shocks. 2' front. 1.5" rear... feels okay, good for about 7-9k.. but i tell you- on some hard bumps, i can feel my it slamming down on bumpstops.. but im race springs and yours are sport...you can get away with stocks for awhile but dont neglect them or your going to feel like maxspeed coilovers in a civic

I have H&R sports on stock shocks on my E90 and they have been fine. I do plan on changing the shocks out to something aftermarket later this year or early next year. My shocks are still in great shape so I'm not in a rush.

I'm planning on doing this, because I just want more low, and my car only has 10,000kms on it so I figure a while before my sports shocks start to go.

My previous car I had the Eibach Pro kits on stock suspension for about 80k and never had an issue. I think issue starts if you use more aggressive lowering springs.

Mixed opinions.. i haven't done this myself, but my friend had it on his E90, and I noticed that the ride was very bumpy, but other then comfort, he had no issues as far as I know.

I am in the same boat. I just bought some 19" wheels and I am sure I will still have some gap. I'm trying to decide between springs or coilovers but don't really have the money yet for coilovers. my wife's Scion xB is dropped on stock struts and has not had any issues. So I'm sure you will be fine for at least a little while. I think that's what I will do.

I would not do this. I have been on that setup for awhile and am now just changing to coilovers. If you want an uncomfortable and bouncy ride, then go ahead and do it. I suggest coilovers. I'll post my review with coilovers later next week when I get them installed.
