How do you seal/protect polished aluminum ?

Are there any sealants out there that will work on polished aluminum? Just looking for an alternative to polishing the lips on my wheels (with Mother's Polish) after every wash.

Optimum Opti-Seal™

Application tips:

• Use very sparingly; it’s made to be applied in a thin layer.
• Always use a clean and dry applicator to spread evenly over the surface.
• A true paint sealant with no cleaners or fillers.

Thanks. After a bit more digging, some have also used Klasse SG and Megs NXT, but neither lasts. I will look at the Optimum Opti Seal.

Klasse HGSG did not last? That's one of the stronger sealants out there. OptiSeal/OptiCoat/Rejex/Collonite 845 all work well on polished clear coated metals. Are the wheels clear coated? If not try a marine metal sealant, that's about as strong as you can get.

The lips do not have clear coat. They are bare aluminum.

The wheels on my Trans Am are bare polished aluminum (no clearcoat) Torque Thrust II's.

At 1st I would regularly hand polish them with Wenol Light Metal Polish which was excellent - but a PITA.

Then I sealed the wheels with Zoops Seal

http://www.zoops.com/index.php/zoopseal.html

which worked beautifully, was a PITA to apply, and it doesn't last forever.

Finally, I had the wheels machine polished by the guy that does my chrome plating to ensure the finish was perfect - then I had the wheels Clear Anodized. This is much better than any applied clearcoat and lasts forever. You could also have them Clear Powdercoated which is the next best thing...
