Fitted today!
Ive finally got my new suspension fitted!
Had months of faf with the wrong suspension(SE for new SE!)being fitted by a well known specialist, they were quick to admit fault but slow to rectify. In the end had to ask for my money back, that also took ages, grrr Anyway here it is, Bilstein B8 sprint dampers with Eibach pro springs, otherwise known as a B12 kit. First impressions are very good, the car feels lighter on its feet yet far more planted. It does feel a lot firmer and doesnt wallow and float down the road anymore. I couldnt push it very much on my 20mile blast as the roads are very slippy today, typical as it was lovely yesterday! The second picture is SE and the 1st and 3rd are B12. Ive measured and its dropped almost 40mm! |

Looks good. SE standard ride height is hideous - looks more like a 4x4!

Thanks. Yeah was pretty high! Not good with the diesels heavy engine up on stilts. The picture was taken about half an hour after it was fitted so it may drop a couple more mm over the next few weeks.

You have lowered the car and NOT done an alignment?
Your mechanic needs a kick in the fanny. This will be all over the place, probably all toe'ed outwards. Urgent job IMO.

A well reputed user of the Hunter Machine which I had when I dropped my car on it's a$$ cost me the best part of .......... £120 ish. Sounds steep I know but small price to pay to be safe on the road.
Gotta pay to play |

Actualy feels 100% fine. The two places that have fitted suspension to this car(1 cock up then this B12 kit)both disagreed that it would need doing. I will do it but best to give the car chance to settle first.

Your choice but be prepared for worn tyres, future bushes and bearing problems. I kept putting off doing my 330 until it was to late and had two front tyres showing thread on the inside shoulder! All because i was to lazy to get it on a Hunter lol.

Thanks for the info. Not lazyness, ive been advised by a trusted tyre fitter to give the car chance to settle. Not all that bothered if the tyres wear as they are run flats, i hate runflats!

Is this b12 suspension much different to say eibachs stainless steel coils or what I have, BC racing ones apart from a different brand and its construction?. I'm just interested to know why some go for these over others... Bit of a hit and miss I guess as the same could be asked for why one chooses kenco over Nescafé but keen to know of any major differences and people's line of thinking behind these??
The car looks great OP and so much better without that 4x4 gap. |
