Winter setup opinions please?
Considering a staggered winter setup consisting of 8.5 up front and 9.5 rears 18" with a 225 and 255 in rear. Dunlops or Blizaacks. I am usually south of the 401. Anyone have experience with this on a rwd 335?
Will I regret this? Should I just do 8.5 all around 225 square and add spacers to make it more flush? Any opinions are appreciated! Thanks |

i run 225/45/17 all around for winter and have the blizzak lm-60s. I have had them on for a couple winters now and am pretty happy with the set up. you do have to be careful with the gas though in rwd. when theres no snow and the roads are wet i do wish i had more traction on the back wheels though.

i wanted to get 18s but at the time everyone suggested 17s to me for some reason.. i ended up getting these motegi rims with blizzaks. the black rims look stealthy and cant really tell that they are only 17s unless you give them a close look.

If our winter this year is anything like last years, you could run 20" winters with 285 in the back and have no worries haha.
Generally speaking a square setup will work "better", but that doesn't mean mean the staggered setup will be bad. If the areas you drive in are generally plowed you'll be fine. Ground clearance will become a problem before your 255 rears do.

Being all black helps. I bet it looks great. Winter tires are softer and will wear faster so by going staggered he will be going through rears if we have another winter like last...cant rotate them .

yup i like the look of these and they are quite the contrast from my summers. and they werent too expensive. although i def need to get some spacers for them this winter because their offset is quite a bit higher than my summers. last winter was quite bad for the softer tires, i saw quite a decrease in tread depth of the rears.

That having been said, as long as you remember about the speedo difference, it doesn't hurt to add a little extra sidewall for the winter months. I've settled for 235/40/18's on both cars, which is a nice compromise if you run either a square wheel setup, or factory staggered. |
