Went in to buy SQ5 and bought an A8
So decided to buy the new SQ5 but wanted to have a drive in one to just get a feel of what they are like but the dealer only had a s line 140 bhp model. It was pretty terrible tbh and put me off but while I was there I sat in a high spec a8 3.0tdi quattro se exec. Lovely!
Had a test drive and it's the first car I've driven that was a significant improvement over my 5 series ( I have the adaptive dampers ). In fact not only did the engine seem super fast but it was a good 25% better than my 5 series. So their car listed at £75000 with the spec on it and they offered it to me for £56000 which I was generally impressed for a car with that spec. This is until I got home and looked at the deals on nearly new used vehicles. So I've got for £41000 a July 2012 3.0 TDI Se Exec Quattro with climate comfort massaging seats, Night vision ,solar roof , adaptive cruise , lane assist and side assist , heated steering wheel , double glazed uv insulating glass and heated windscreen and less than 3000 miles on the clock + all the standard items that come with this model. Bargain!!!! I'm generally happy and looking forward to it Will post pics as soon as I get it. Last edited by Scoot; 12-29-2012 at 01:11 PM.. |

Wow, sounds the business and probably a better price than an equivalent 7 series. I do have a soft spot for Audis, their interiors generally are much better than BMWs.
Edit. I had to google SQ5! |

The downside was my trade bid for my very high spec 520d Se touring was just £18500. It needs some polishing and two new front tyres but I paid something around £39000 less than two years ago for it new but it does have just over 54000 on the clock.
Must try not to buy new again |

The level of luxury and performance on offer even if it's only worth £10000 after 3 years I think it's a bargain. List price less than 6 months ago was just over £75000

Sounds like a good deal. I like the latest A6/8; look very sophisticated barges. I had to google SQ too

I found exactly the same when I picked up my A7 a few months back.
Had dropped to almost half it's new list price (I know nobody actually pays list price) in well under a year and with less than 5k miles on the clock and like you, it had more toys than Woolworths at Christmas. Stunning car to drive and the first car in many years I have owned where random people stop me in the car park and complement me on it. |

Was due to collect the car today at 10:00am but the wife's waters broke at 3:00am and instead of a new Audi on the drive we have a 8.8lb healthy baby boy.
I actually phoned the manager of the dealership from the ward to apologise as he'd pushed everything through fast for me. Got a nice text from the salesman wishing us all the best. Going to try to pick the vehicle mid week if possible now. |

Congrats on baby and car. That is a lot of car for the money but the only thing that puts me off is the sheer size of the thing. How does it compare to your 5 to drive size wise.

Tbh it didn't feel anywhere near as big as I thought it would. The best way I could describe it would be that it just feels like a grown up 5 series. A bit like the 5 series does to the 3. The level of grip from the 4x4 to me made it feel more nimble than my 5 but this could also be down to having a 3.0 diesel compared to the 2.0 in the bmw. As soon as I sat in their demo for the test drive I new I was going to like it. I have really enjoyed the quality of the interior on the 5 but the audi was the first car I have sat in that was a significant improvement over it. I've been looking at so many vehicle for the past 8 months and I always came away thinking it wasn't really any better than what I had to justify shelling out the extra money to change. Well I'm hoping this will be as I genuinely feel these are a bargain at the moment and hugely undervalued. Fingers crossed that it turns out as good as I hope. |

That is some spec sheet! Amazing amount of tech in there. Puts the 640 in the shade in terms of gadgetry, and what a price! Sounds like a house with all the Double glazing and insulation, what is night vision, side assist, pre sense plus?
What colour exterior and interior? |

Wow, that lot is pretty amazing technology, like it a lot! I am assuming that those features are optional extras? How much would they have been to add to the car?
