Was done on my friends laptop, Ill make sure to get a shot of those as soon as I can get to him again. Will that help me see if one of the injectors is going bad? If so what should I be on the look out for.

It's my theory, maybe some of the INPA gurus can chime in here, but I'd think that one injector with large correctional values would be concerning. I've yet to scan a car that had sevre injector problems and the adaptation values were all +-4% or so.
Before you do that, go read the injector 4 values off your car and compare. The above assumes that they were entered right in the first place and the DME is compensating for an injector on the fritz. |

The injector flow rates are predetermined and tested on the bench after its made to test the calibration of each unit. That flow rate value is given to each injector made as there are tolerances between each unit produced. That flow rate number from the INPA screen doesn't change if the injector starts to fail. It's only showing the calibrated flow of the injector which the dme will compensate for it to reach its desired flow.

You sure about that? Just basing off my adapation values (typically 1-2%), INPA would accept a value 1 or 2 points less than what I input. 1% of 2.5=0.025 ie 2.58 was accepted as 2.56. Was just my theory; you know more about INPA than I do so I guess thats put to rest.
Either way, wouldnt a strong adaptation value indicate a failing injector then? (eg, 15% correction?) |

An injector can go bad (leaking) and it's adaptation values could be minimal. Also, the DME will change the adaptations on individual injectors based on other parameters such as AFR and knock detection and even engine temp. So while those adaptation values could be used to help troubleshoot at malfunctioning injector, they are not the authoritative decision making parameter.

If my car is a 02/07 build, should I be concerned as to which cable I get? Seems like its the cars after 03/07 that are picky about cables.

Nope, not really. You need to run the .IPO files through a disassembler and replace every string from German to its English equivalent.
I was working on translating the MSD80.ipo file to English and my laptop got stolen so I lost all of my software and all of the translation work that I've done so far. I plan on attempting to translate the MSD80 again but we are talking about 26,000 lines of code to go through, translate and verify that it's working...

Wanted to post this here for any input. Notice the low flow values:
Anything I should worry about? Been troubleshooting a long crank issue for awhile now. |

Hi guys, great thread...lots of awesome info...in a previous post someone said they were able to see the injector info on their '10 E60 535xi, but never tried coding anything. I'm wondering if I could code an '09 E61N using Vas' how to guide?
