Hi,

I am planning on installing a dension gateway 500 in my 2010 335i sedan to be able to integrate my ipod/iphone to my navigation. My question is after it is installed, do I get my car coded for ipod interface or for a CD changer?

Thanks in advance.

So I have had a hard time resetting these codes and getting my car out of limp mode. Every other drive though it has full acceleration, then the next start it limits me to 20mph.

I have a major engine issue with my 2006 330i. I get a "major engine malfunction, reduced power" error. P1056 code says it's the VVT or Valvetronic Motor. Long story short, I left my lights on and ran the battery down, jumped the car and it has freaked out ever since. Limited to 20mph.

I have switched the battery and installed a new Valvetronic Motor. Still getting errors on my screen.

I have tried the OBDII scanner and reset and the codes come back.

P1056
P1047

I have a Bavarian Autosport Fault Code Reader/Reset Tool, and it is giving me these codes:

2a3d valvetronic, adjustment motor: input signal
2a39 Valvetronic, adjustable range
2a3f Valvetronic, servo motor: power supply

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

I've done no research on these specific codes, but I can tell you that "bank 1" is the left side of whatever the code is talking about.

I also get this error whenever I try to download anything from the first post. I'm just getting started with coding, so I need all the programs, but I have no idea where to get them since those links don't work. Anyway they can be re-posted by someone else?

So it sounds like the left side wiring of the Valvetronic Motor???

Do you think it is the wiring, computer fried, software needs resetting?

All this because the car was jumped after the battery died.

It's an inline engine so everything is on one side. OBD2 codes are generic for any vehicle so cars with V type, boxer, etc where there are distinct sides to the motor have different banks for each side.

I wish I had a clue what those codes meant. I had a run in with seemingly unrelated VVT errors and it turned out to be the eccentric shaft sensor. I'm not saying that's what's wrong with yours, only that the codes don't necessarily imply that the antecedent of the code is necessarily the problem.

The bav-tech tool is nice for BMW specific codes, but next to useless for diagnostics. Since yours is a 2006 330i, you might be able to get some useful information from DIS and a K+dcan cable, but setting DIS up is a pain. My dealer charges $45 for a diagnostic which is usually the best route to go.

I thought about going the K+dkan cable route and resetting the software myself, but that is going into unknown territory.

I checked the sensor and tried to clean out any oil that was in there, but it just didn't make sense after the dead batter and jump start.

Taking it to a shop today to see if they can narrow it down further.

Thanks for the insight.

For software

Search on

INPA-6.4.3-full

NCSEXPER (.rar)

etc.

or try this link for INPA/EDIABAS to get started

http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...64bit-t103023/

You will also want SPDaten 48.1

Also search on "Making sense of INPA, EDIABAS, NCSExpert"

Do you mean the K+DCan cable mentioned throughout this thread? Yes, you can clear the code using INPA, but if there is a real fault, it'll just come back.

Thanks for posting the guides I decided to just buy the software and cable from bm technic for £50 hopefully save some pennies compared to getting the stealer to code to hifi.

Sorry it was not showing that when I uploaded it. Try "bmw coding dot com". but remove spaces and make dot a period.
