$155 is incredibly steep when you consider that it would cost you about $100 less to just do it yourself. If you can work a socket and jack up a car (or drive up on ramps), you can change your oil. Super easy, especially when you follow along with the DIY. And you can't get a much better oil filter setup than BMW offers.

Changing oil on my last car ('07 Honda Civic Si sedan) was a pain in the ass. In order to access the oil filter, you had to snake your arm through a bunch of very tiny crevaces and hope to god you can pull the filter out (which was already screwed in horizontally) without spilling. Needless to say, I poured oil down my arms and on my face the first few times I changed the oil on her.

BMW puts the filter on top of the motor. MUCH easier!

Find a dealer that has a special for oil changes and go there. BMW Silver Spring currently has oil changes for $80. Go to there website and print out the service specials.

I normally get my oil from BMW Excluservice and do it at home. $93 with CCA discount for full synthetic, additive, and filter.
