Just did this on my car! This is a very nice guide, worked perfectly. Anyone trying to do this I would make sure INPA and NCSEXPERT are working correctly and you can code your car successfully (to make sure you have your system setup properly). I have coded many options on my car before doing this and then I all needed to do was import the files and flash! If anyone needs help I am more then happy to help and can do a remote flash if you have no idea how to do this.
My only question is, will this cause extra wear on the transmission? There seems to be a lot of people saying yes and a lot saying it will actually extend the life of the transmission. Also if you don't want to pay $100 for the cable from one stop electronics, I bought mine off ebay for $30 and it works great! Just search "BMW INPA / Ediabas K+DCAN" and find one that is from USA/CANADA and not china. |

Question for cn555ic, why does it matter that for those running a piggyback set their tune to valet mode? What if you have have a flash instead of a piggyback tune?

It only pertains to JB4 tune as there is no true valet mode..Procede and flashes are fine as it doesnt use the canbus.

I updated my N55 to this flash. I lost my idrive controller! It will no longer work. Any one know how to get it working? I recoded CIC with NCSExpert and it didn't help.

Yes I followed the steps exactly. I have coded my car in the past with NCSExpert and never had issues.
Coded, car poped up with all kinds of errors on idrive screen, locked car for 10 minutes, came back out and started car. No errors, i-drive controller not lit up and won't work. Paddle shifters not working either. Coded those and they are working. Still no i-drive controller. Locked car for 30 minutes, still no controller. Recoded back to original transmission. waited 10 minutes. Still no i-drive. Read in CIC with ncsexpert and wrote it back. No go I used SPDaten 50.2 could that cause the issue? |

Flashing the Alpina has nothing to do with your controller not working...I have heard the controller suddenly not work for no apparent reason....Try changing out the controller with someone that has a CIC unit and I will be it will work..Again its just pure coincidence that this happened. I have flashed many and not one issue...Also there has to be hundred and thousands that are flashed over to ALpina and I have not heard of this issue.

It makes no sense. It acts just like the paddle shifters do until you reset the EGS. I also noticed the + and - on my paddles no longer light up. They are supposed to correct?

I dont know what happen in your case but I will tell you this that I have flashed many cars and other have flashed using the same 50.2 spdaten files and I have not heard of CIC controller not functioning or the paddles shifter lights not working...I think coincidentally these issues happen to your car while doing the flash. |

Alpina flash completed. No issues at all and if i had paddle shifters I am sure it wouldnt be a problem either.
I love how fast it shifts but dear god its fast. Its literally instant. I guess quarter mile times will go down too LOL. However to me it seemed that when running first gear in M1 to M2 keeping the throttle pressed down it seems to slip or jerk going into second, before the alpina flash it would be slower but no issues. Maybe it just was that one time. Not sure yet.
