iDrive TV Function
Hey guys - I was checking the new 2008 M3 in the UK website, and in the options I found the TV function for the iDrive - do you guys know if this is currently available in the US as an option too?

only thing I know of if the TVandNAV2go, which allows you to run your own video source through the idrive. using that solution you would still need your own tuner to access OTA channel.s

I would say no. The TV option has being available for BMW vehicles outside of North America for a long time.
With the old I-Bus cars, such as the last M3 (E46), you could easily add the TV module to the car since BMW made a retrofit kit. It even worked for USA built cars (I added it to my E46 M3!) On the newer MOST based cars, such as the new E92 M3, all modules require coding after install. So even if BMW do make a retrofit kit, you wouldnt be able to code it for USA built cars. Its ashame because the TV function is really nicely integrated into i-drive. |
