Water Pump-.-
Waiting for tow truck so might as well post.
Was driving about 24km from home and DING! Temp light comes on then turns red, Car engine goes into pre flight take off mode I realized The fan came on and car comes to a sudden halt, Limped if into a parking lot. Got about 124000 km, wasnt expecting pump or thermostat to go This soon, got 3rd Party warranty hopefully they cover, More scares of my parents ripping me apart, because I bought this over a brand new stang and have already paid Over ten thousand in repairs approx mostly warranty Although dissapointed still love my car to death, have had zero Motor issues just these fuel, oil leaks, and.cooling system Problems, not to mention this brutal past ontario winter Thanks for listening Drew |

Damn dude. I'm in the same boat. I could have paid my car off with all the money that I've spent on fixing her and getting her back up to snuff. It sucks man. Good luck though. It's hard not to love these things.

I feel for you. An old mechanic of mine told me that you should be able to work on your BMW if you own one. That was 20 years and 7 different bimmers later, I still work on my cars.

I don't see why your parents would be made.. The warranty covered 10k of repairs right?
And you got 335i what did you expect. Reliable car for more money. No sir, expect less for more. |

Thanks for the replys everyone, I know we'll love our cars until there last dying cylinder, so as it stands, my warranty company will only pay for the water pump which is 655, not including labor, my indy recommends the thermostat which they won't cover, but its a cost of 175 and they won't charge me extra labor, also warranty will not cover the coolant. Its currently at RMP Motors, they've done all my work, and Rocco is a very honest guy, I appreciate all his input and help.

Bite my shiny metal a**, ahaha just kidding, well you see Bender my parents are from the homeland, they just see the headache i go through sometimes and I had to miss class today because of this, so they get upset at stuff like that, they don't quite understand that all these problems, HPFP, water pump, etc are fairly common, my pops expects all these things to go at like 200000km etc Also I have a 150 deductible per claim, also little things like coolant or tranny fluid aren't covered so it all adds up sometimes lol

I wish I could work on my cars, I can do the simple things like plugs coils oil change filter, once my warranties up I will def attempt to fix it myself, I love taking apart my cowling and seeing how the engine works and stuff, If I could be a BMW mechanic or a mechanic in general I would, I envy that you are able to work your cars yourself

Tara checked out your channel, loving the mods you did on your car, looks great! Mod bug has hit me, but as a broke university student trying to deal with that for now ahaha not too mention these sudden issues sort of hold me back, hopefully after this water pump ill be good for summer!

My water pump let go at 74K miles.
CPO covered it. Would not cover the thermostat for $175 even though it should be replaced at the same time. People complaining about $10K in warranty repair? how about $16K in repair under warranty? It would have been cheaper for them to buy back my car after the first two HPFP failures. I won't list what has been done on my car, but let's just say I don't think there is a gasket or hose on the top end that has not been swapped out. Yes, even the head gasket has been done. The only thing left is the turbos.......

My warranty is up at 156k or 2016 Jan, car has to be inspected or something by the warranty company before it can be renewed. Hopefully it goes through. Thanks for your input though.

Go ahead and do the thermostat now.... or you'll regret it when you're paying the labor later.
In reality, you should be able to change this yourself with a few basic tools in under 4 hours.

My car at 85k miles now or 136,000km. Just changed the water pump and thermostat last week. I felt like I could have hit 100k miles without it failing..because my friend in Phoenix, AZ where the temp is a whole lot hotter than California got it to 102k miles before it stranded him.
Nonetheless, I took it upon myself to not take the risk and change it out. I still felt I did it 10-15k miles too early. But with your situation, being a 2009 model, you only made it 77k miles... |
