Possible Eccentric Shaft Issue?
I have a 2006 E90 325I. I pulled some codes after getting a couple of rough cold starts, one time it was so rough that it just shut off.
I got the following errors: 2A31 2A32 2A47 So after researching a bit it looks to be related to the eccentric shaft sensor. The problem is, after reading a ton of stuff on here, I noticed that when this part goes bad (usually from oil leaking into it) the check engine light should also come on, which I'm not getting. I'm getting ready to have this changed out in a week, but I want to make sure this is indeed the issue based on the codes I got and the symptoms. |

my check engine light took forever to come on, but it was evident something was wrong. I'd say from the time of the problems to the CEL coming on was a few weeks

2A32= VVT Eccentric Shaft Sensor Parity Error (Bank 1) 2A47= "Valvetronic, eccentric shaft sensor: plausibility"??? I don't have this code in my book. Sounds like you're getting the shaft.

I had eccentric shaft codes show up when reading the codes, as well as oil in the sensor itself. Check engine light never came on though. Replaced the sensor and all is well now.

Yeah I'm getting it done in a couple of weeks. I'll have them replace the : Eccentric shaft sensor Eccentric shaft sensor gasket/seal Valve/cylinder cover gasket Valvetronic motor gasket and possibly the valve cover bolts if they're aluminum (or should I do it anyway even if they're not?) Am I missing anything? Anything else I can have done while they're in there? I did the plugs and coils a couple of months ago. |

Hey,
I did this on my 2006 330i a few weeks ago. I bought the valve cover gasket kit from FCP https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...-11127581215kt I'd def recommend taking tons of photos along the way. I used this as a primer. Read through it a few times http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/tech..._Replacing.htm Good luck! |
