Awaiting Transport
According to the BMW Owners Circle, my 325xi is "Awaiting Transport." The car finished production a week ago (02/13/06). Does Awaiting Transport mean that my toy is sitting in a big lot at the Munich factory waiting to be loaded onto a train or trailer to go to Bremerhaven? Could it already be at the port waiting to be loaded onto a ship? One week in a factory lot seems like a long time.
Thanks |

remember, that after it's produced, it still needs to be shipped to the departing city, which takes some time too. also, ships leave every 3-4 days, so combine it with transport and you get a week delay from production to take off from the port.
waiting kills, i know, but you're really close now!

Owner's Circle doesn't seem to differentiate, so...
Call BMW at 1-800-831-1117 and say "Vehicle Production Status" and, when prompted, the production number or last 7 characters of the VIN. If your e90 is already at the port in Bremerhaven, then the message will say so. Otherwise, I assume it is still at the factory. You can also plug in your full VIN (available on Owner's Circle) on the shipping company's website to see if the car is already on a ship. (It's probably not yet, but you can check.) Being in Virgina, the shipping company is probably Wallenius Wilhelmsen. Go to this site and click on "Auto Cargo". Owner's Circle and the 800 number may never update to show your car as being on a ship, so this site is your most reliable source. Even still, the shipping company takes 2-3 days to update their site once your ship sails. And finally, your dealer has instant access to the most detailed info. |
