Overheating and timing chain
I have a 2007 320D and I took it to BMW as it overheated. The orange temperature light came on but it didn't go red. I didn't drive the car and had a tow truck take it to BMW. They say there was a product recall on the timing chain and stripped the engine. The say the head was fine according to the engineers and reassembled. They then discovered the block was cracked. Could the overheating be related to the timing chain. Why didn't the red light go on? There was also sufficient water in the car and stopped driving the car immediately when it overheated.
