Engine oil changes
Hi
Is it ok to use LL-04 oil? Also, when performing oil change, anyone of you use addictive for engine flush? Didn't find anyone using this in the DIY section but the workshop did that for me, planning to get oil change done on my own in the future and wonder if an engine flush is needed/ better. If so, any recommended product? Or any product at Repco/super cheap will do? Thanks |

I would stick with LL-01 (assuming you have a 335i), I use Penrite HPR 5 (5w40) which is BMW LL-01 aprroved and it often goes on special at Repco/SCA for about 1/2 the price of all the other 'major' LL-01 approved oils.

He has a 325i.
LL-04 is for low sulfur gas in Europe. Also for Diesel cars. LL-01 is for high sulfur content gas in Australia and US. You should be using LL-01, but it won't hurt your car too much for one service cycle. Here is a very cool somewhat useful interactive comparison chart. Click on the arrow next to BMW for drop down menu for fuel type. You can overlay the fuel types. Read the blurb on the performance chart titles. http://sas-origin.onstreammedia.com/.../PC/index.html |

I wonder why that workshop used LL_04 on my vehicle cheaper? but LL-04 should be more expensive... by the way, how does sulphur affect our engine? |
