In my full honest opinion, the E90/2 chassis doesn't stand a chance nationally. Locally might be fun but it'll be a frustrating build getting the car to do what you want.
(PS - If you're thinking about competing that 3 Stage Manifold is illegal) |

Let me know how that does through slalom, transitions, and basically every other aspect of an autocross course.
You're competitor is a FRS, look at what that is compared to you. Think about it this way, if your car is an inch wider, that's a disadvantage to you against another car that is narrower than you and can fit through an element with less effort and steering input than you. |

Seriously though, It does make me want to try harder and give it a shot. I know, I weigh more, I'm wider, I'm longer and don't want to rotate as much - but I'm hoping the stable nature make me comfortable enough to drive harder. We'll see, right? |

Go for it, but just as an FYI you'll have to get rid of that 3-Stage DISA and keep your secondaries (or swap to a lower cell hi-flow car and maintain location within 6") You'll struggle in sweepers but you'll probably have an advantage in high speed transitions and perhaps slaloms. Quote:
Also, I'm talking about a specific class within Solo, STX. I'd say I'm pretty familiar with it as I compete Nationally within it. |

Anyhow, can't it be argued that the 3 stage is pretty much standard equipment on the cars - the N51 has it, so does the 330i. I think I might have an issue with my Dinan Intake as well. BTW, I've watched your videos - how do you get that overlay and telemetry information? (speed and throttle position) |

Doesn't matter, rules state as such. You'll be okay with the intake as long as it follows below: Quote:

The best part is after each run you can review data to see where you went faster or slower and improve those areas that need work Last edited by Kgolf31; 07-14-2015 at 09:17 PM.. |

This thread is too funny. Makes me realize how I perceived the sport years ago vs now. To be fair concerning the illegal mode, it is important to note autocross is about classing your car correctly in class. Competitors can call you out on it but its really passive aggressive to know you have an illegal mod and then challenge competitors to call you on it. The E90 non 335 has a tough road to hoe in STX and the 335i is buried in STU in my opinion. They both have a hell of a time in FS against the M3 and Mustangs.

Guys, I ran with a local group that was just for fun so mods weren't super important, this would be no different. I don't have the budget to ppay with the big boys, even if I did have the talent.
Z3papa spent years running a Z3, and I have to tell you, I feel the E90 chassis is lightyears better than the Z3 was... (different classes I know) but I imagine it was fun just the same, no? Here it to being an underdog! Last edited by Taskmaster; 07-17-2015 at 12:32 PM.. |

Oh I hear you. I spent years being ultra competitive locally and even some regional events only to be frustrated to no end at Nat'l level. Last year, after doing the Toledo/Wilmington Pros but before Nats, I came to the conclusion I was tired of banging my head against the wall and decided to sell the car I loved for a car I could win in and love. Enter the E92 M3.

I have trouble with keeping up to the FRS in sweepers and I'm at least 200 pounds heavier. Now imagine 400 pounds heavier. I mean more power to you if you can find the time. But it won't be easy |
