Touchscreen for Hifi factory head unit
Hi,
I have a 2008 BMW 328i convertible. It does not have navigation but has the normal BMW factory head unit. Kind of in a pinch in terms of time for research. I was wondering if it was possible to install a touchscreen in place of the factory head unit so I can have blue tooth to stream spotify and have a dynamic camera in the rear of the car? Seems like the factory head unit does more than just stereo but also controls a/c etc.? Thanks in Advance. Danny |

The most compatible HU is the dynavin N6

There is a big thread on it here. There can be side effects when installing a aftermarket Head Unit such as BMW can not perform diag or repairs without the original head unit in place. Also there can be some error signals generated with BMW SOS and some of the options that become detached as a result. Some people do a parallel mount moving the old HU to the trunk or somewhere else to avoid some of these problems. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1016187 This will not give you as much sound improvement as aftermarket speakers and amps. |

I've been looking into the same idea. I've read the Dynavin N6 thread on here. I was thinking today if I could just add the BMW OEM Navigation system myself. There are multiple used dash's on Ebay for an 2011 335i E90 for around 400, so then I would just need the actual nag system? Has anyone done this or know if it would work? I'm sure I could buy in direct from BMW for my first child or $5000 LOL

Also the older versions of the BMW Nav are pretty clunky. The new version is called NBT there is whole sub forum dedicated to idrive here. NBT comes with a bunch of Internet stuff and streaming bluetooth music built in . http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ghlight=idrive idrive sub forum next link oops corrected http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=122 For Nav you would be better off with Waze on your cell phone it gives real time traffic road hazard and police reports. It would be nice to get it on a bigger screen though. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...&highlight=nbt You need to talk to Bimmertech if you go this route I think.
