Google Mobile Maps: send to car: SOLVED
Since buying the 320d I’ve found it very irritating that Google omitted “Send to Car” from the Android version of mobile maps – I would’ve thought this would be at least as useful on a smartphone as on a PC but clearly Google weren’t of the same opinion and steadfastly ignored all requests to include it. The good news is that this morning, I found a brand new app called “Send to Car” by Julien Vanier and it brilliant, integrates with Google Mob Maps, is easy to use and does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a must for anyone with Android & BMW Assist - what’s more it’s FREE – check it out:-
http://sendtocar.sourceforge.net/ PS. My name is not Julien Vanier and I have no connection with him other than using & recommending his app |

Well, it's works, but the first time I tried it didn't. I entered an address in Suffolk and the address it sent to the car was one with the same road name in London!
To be fair, it did confirm that is was London before I sent (which I didn't notice the first time) but all the same, it was a bit odd. In the end I entered the address but omitted the street name (just town and postcode) and it then worked.

That's Google maps for you, routing can be just as strange but it's much easier using the phone for a search than the Beemer |

Here you go look:
Unfortunately since I have an early 2008, this is the only useful thing the app does (but it does it well) - the locate you car feature requires a manual placement of the pin which kinda defeats the object, newer models get a little auto locate button (along with other goodies like remote unlock etc) Worth a look |

There are lots of reviews of this app all dated around October last year, but nothing since & I've been searching for months. I'm guessing there were problems with the Android version & it was very quietly pulled! |
