Stock -> FBO Upgrade Experience
So this was a lot of fun.
Recently I went FBO (well, minus catback exhaust) with my 2007 E90 335i. I live in Denver so I went with AR Design for installation. They gave me an incredible deal on labor, and I installed five parts at once: ER Perf FMIC cp-e DPs Stett CP Forge DV AR Design Oil Cooler with Retrofit Kit I picked these up used from members on classifieds over time a couple years ago but never had the chance to put them on till now. I have the Cobb AP V2 set at Stg 2+ sport, stock throttle. I still need to log boost,etc. but after sorting out some codes everything runs smooth. Definitely transformed the car in every way I hoped. I look forward to some 3rd gear pulls and more if I can keep speeds semi legal! At this point I think I'm enjoying the improvement in throttle response most. When you tap the gas the car is finally as responsive as NA engines feel to me, if not more. In DS mode, forget about it. So happy with things, guess it only took me five years to do these upgrades. AR Design was great diagnosing issues with the MAF sensor and O2 sensors that needed to be reversed -lucky I live close to this shop. AR will give you a tour of all their customer projects involving enormous turbos and huge horsepower, and can customize exhaust systems for any vehicle. This would be great someday .. thanks for everything AR.

DPs and FMIC are the most important IMO (along with a good tune of course), but I believe the accepted definition of FBO includes an intake, in addition to the exhaust you note. Any reason you left that out? I went FBO all at once as well, though I'd already had the CP and tune. I added the Stage 2 LPFP upgrade at the same time to get E85 fueling and tuning flexibility. I also left out the exhaust, albeit b/c the 335is exhaust is already a sweet improvement over the stock 335i. Anyway, enjoy! Quite a kick in the pants, no?

Hi JasW,
Good points. I forgot to mention my DCI, such a small upgrade years ago! I like the improved intake sound along with any improvement in air flow it provides. I always loved the 335is, thanks for your reply.
