Brake Pads: Stoptech Street Peformance pads vs Textar OEM pads

I'm planning to replace my brake pads. What's better in terms of performance and durability? Stoptech Street Performance pads vs Textar BMW OEM?

I don't have personal experience with stoptech yet. But they are very reputable company with great brake product. I would say give it a try.

OEM pads are usually designed for less dust and lasting, you can try street pads from stoptech first if you daily drive your car instead of tracking it.

I have stoptech and really like them. Dust abt the same as stock.

I've had both. The Stop Tech Street Pads after bedding them in dusted a bit less than OEM, but after 2 months it dusted as much OEM. I also noticed that I lost little of the bite and feel that OEM gave. I switched to Textars and been happy since. Bite and feel were restored and as dusty as ever. Both are about the same on durability, but I think the Stop Techs are more aggressive pads compared to Textars. If you just want a daily driver pads, the Textars should be fine.

If you are considering the stop tech you may like the Hawk 5.0 more.

Assuming this is a daily driver cart the hawk a are street pad combined with a little more bite then OEM.

I know a lot of guys talk about dust but unfortunately dust typically comes with stopping power.

Low dust ultra quiet pads dust less and there braking power suffers. There is usually a trade off but technology is improving slowly on brake pads.

At any rate, I'll be fitting my personal vehicle with Hawk 5.0 and Stoptech rotors this spring.

I was actually considering the Hawk 5.0 before I looked into Stoptech. I realized that they only have them for my rears and not the fronts.

I'm using Stoptech and for me it seems like it dusted less than OEM. Grips fairly well and didn't lose too much initial bite.

I went w/SS ST. Perf. pads all around last year on new Zimermann rotors and although they dusted less right away after bedding. I was unimpressed with the initial bite as well, even after heated up a bit they still didn't bite as good as oem/textar. For whatever reason I only got about 12-13K out of the rears before the wear sensor kicked in so I went back to Textar on the rears and will do the same on the fronts when it's time.

Also, when I was bedding them in I somehow transferred pad material to the rotors and had a warped feeling for a while until I got sick of it then just replaced the rotors again. I've bed in many pads and this has never happened, esp on my autox/track E36 which is running PFC08's now.

Should also note I have oem/textar on my E70 and when it came time to change I stuck w/textar again. Just my 02. cents.
