Selling my 335i
Hi all, hoping you can help.
I'm looking to sell my car with a few mods and I know that will half my potential market. I've seen a few of similar spec of roughly 13-14k. Should I sell with mods? Or go for the standard market? Spec as follows: It is 57 reg however is a later model registered in December and classed as a 2008. Thus in the lower tax band. Metallic Black M Sport Full Leather Interior with Electric, Memory and Heated Seats iDrive with the Sat Nav Auto with Alpina Flash 52k miles which will go up but slowly FSH MOT till May Both Keys Waterpump and Thermostat done January Bluetooth Modifications: 19" Alloys 3SDM 0.01 H&R Lowering Springs VRSF Decat Downpipes Smoked Angel Eyes with LED Rings Performance Exhaust Modification Paintwork: Is in fantastic condition. Being an 8 year old car it has the odd chip here and there but there are no dents or major scratches. Cheers guys. |

Your mileage is pretty good, I'd go standard as that could increase market as you say. Plus I've seen modified cars on Pistonheads stay around a long while. At 52k someone could still get a warranty at a good price and by the sounds of it get a tidy car.

Well it's a hard one. Looking at your profile pic I guess you have a grey e92. There are loads currently on the market. So in a away a modded car is different since there are loads of standards around. But normally you wouldn't get many buyers.
It may be worth trying to advertise it as it is for a little while and what happens. I personally I would be careful buying a modded car but all depends on the work done and the quality. Good luck |

I don't have an issue buying or selling a modded car but only as long as when buying I can see it's been done properly and still well cared for. There are lots out there that won't though and this is where the market reduces.
I'd certainly do as above and advertise it as is, as tbh you haven't really done that much to it to alienate the mass public. The lowering is just a set of springs which isn't overly aggressive and the exhaust mods are not really seen but heard so doesn't detract the eye and lots of people add a set of alloys so again no biggy. I assume you've removed the other mods like the 1M bumper etc from your pic? Go for it and even on Autotrader it should sell. Key is to make the advert good and highlight the maintenance bits etc.

The prices of 335i appear to have gone up a lot since I sold mine. I'm seeing a lot of people ask big prices.
Parkers price guide doesn't suggest the cars are worth anywhere near the asking prices. |

my 2p is that people still think e9x are worth that much on pre LCI
the cars are way overpriced on the internet and I wouldn't say yours is heavily modded to put people off like some which have got lists of mods I sold my 335i E93 last year m sport for £7400 but had 100k on clock and standard people asking double the money with 60k are in la la land |

Some of the dealer prices are insane too. There are E93 N55 cars going for nearly the same as similar age and mileage M3's...That said, many cars sit on the market for months on end and are often reduced in price by 10-15%. Going by recent threads on here I should be putting me e92 57 plate up for at 10k. |

I sold my E90 which was similar age/miles but running more mods (Qyaife LSD, Birds B3, CIC retrofit etc) for £13500 about 12 months ago. Ad price was £13750, and I had to throw in winter wheels to secure the deal.
Birds offered me £9500 PX at the time, so I was happy with what I got for mine and it sold within 1 month of putting the ad up - pistonheads. I hate selling cars, as far as I'm concerned if I get more than px price I'm happy. There's no halm in putting it up for £15,000 and seeing if anyone bites, but if you get the asking price you should get a job in sales!! Good luck |

I just sold my clean Nov 2006 E92 335i SE in Space Grey, all be it not an M Sport but a very well specced example, small remap, 19" wheels recently refurbed, tyres covered about 1k mls, brand new bank of turbos fitted last August, new brakes and battery just before christmas. Car had full history with 73k mls recorded. Sold it to a mate who grabbed the keys off me before I changed my mind for £7k. £7k was the best p/x price I got offered against a £22k M3. Think I sold it a little too cheap after looking at what's out there for sale.
Sounds a nice car your selling, good luck... |

For reference, I paid 12,250 for mine in July 2013 when it had 79K on the clock. It is an August 07-built E90 M Sport in Black Sapphire Metallic with Lemon Dakota interior - it really is a pretty stunning combination. 6 speed manual too - excellent condition inside and out, and had both turbos and injectors replaced under warranty at 60K. The only options missing are HK and front PDC - otherwise I think it has pretty much everything. Now it's on 95K and has had the brakes, waterpump and DSC pump replaced. I wonder what it would fetch now?
