Here's a simple one I use on 12v B series Cummins engines. Just put it in place for illustration purposes, this engine has already had a session with this tool

Older 535d turbine housing is more centric according to exhaust pipe start position, that is true. It will complicate the work, but not stop it. I do not know, how much there is a space for bigger turbine, never measured. It is just a rumor, that nothing can be done to newer turbo´s. Bigger turbine do not need so much room and if necessary, metal can also "increase". Method is like painting. But you are very free to do anything you like, it's not my business in any way. |

The result is, in my opinion so good and the feed rate so high that the max power rpm is supposed to be in that position. I have a table indicating the fuel supply amount in proportion to the engine speed and torq. It is self made, so it is not true, but near it. 641 lb.... is 870nm and ~110mg/stroke 110mg/stroke should give about 405-410hp/4000rpm => so there is some additive used. [IMG][/IMG] |

I probably should have used emoticons previously. It was kind of a regional joke that obviously didn't go over well. My uncles and aunts all grew up in South Boston (you guessed it, Irish). It wasn't until I was in my mid twenties that I found out the names I knew them as were "neighborhood names". Uncle Mikey was actually James. Uncle Jakey was actually Albert ... later, on trips to certain sections of New Jersey, same thing. Everybody has a "e" on the end of their name. I probably just made things worse by telling that story ... ;-) Last edited by DWR; 02-02-2016 at 07:32 PM.. |

.
The true fuel rate can be seen from torq curve, if it is not limited. And there it is not, result is so good. 870nm torq /2750rpm needs ~110mg/stroke fuel. (table vs torq curve max) And I know that 400hp/4000rpm needs ~105mg/stroke fuel So, 110 gives ... excatly 420, I calculated wrong previous time .... I thought that 110 is not enough, but I was sloppy. This horrible language takes so my attention, that I am not able to think clearly anything else ... |

Shnaggs, I don't know if this is where you are going, but an older turbine housing with mods and a downpipe could be an interesting option. Also, if you don't need the IWG, could "painting" help the situation? Don't know the answer, just thinking out loud.

basically what I was thinking. I have no idea what the outcome would be, but if there was more material to play with on the older housing, could be interesting with the more centric exhaust outlet. And yes, if we "paint" the IWG, that could open up the possibility to enhance the flow passage out into the downpipe, plus using the EWG should just be icing on the cake! Now who here is our Michelangelo??? |

Edit: I don't feel "painting" on the turbo is the best option.. I imagine more of a fixed rod that bolts to oem diaphragm bracket and wastegate lever.. A 'deadman' if you will.. |

For that matter, maybe even a threaded plug, staked on the threads. |
