Can I Test Drive Again After Ordering?
I ordered my car on January 2nd after a very short test drive...my car is awaiting transport now, and i want to drive the car one more time before mine comes in... Has anyone done this before and will the dealer let me drive a car more time?

I can't imagine that a dealer would not let you drive the car as many times as you like seeing as how you are buying one from them....

I'd give the dealer hell for that I mean u purchased it! it'd be some bad ASS (After-Sale Service) from their end if they don't let u... my dealer calls me in whenever they have an interesting car in to test drive

I would be offended if they didn't let me and if I were in your position. I don't really see why not though. Just go to the SA that you worked with and I'm sure he'll toss you the keys.

Yes, I think they'll just give you one of their demo cars to use until your car comes it or until you cancel the order, out of gratitude for the $200 profit you've made them.

what is all the fuzz about? Go to your BMW center, seek yous client advisor and ask him for a ride. He will be hapy to do so. Otherwise he has the wrong job and should start at Toyota.

Wow, who pissed in your Cheerios? There's a difference between expecting some courtesy, and what you said.

you could go drive it everyday if you wanted too!!!! why couldn't you?
if you had to ask that it makes me think your dealing with a bad dealer!!! they should be super friendly and enthusiasts not assholes like too many are sadly!!! but there are 2 great ones here in chicagoland and knauz in my opinion is the best though i have heard good things about motorworks... my salesmen has like 6 bmws and a bmw motorcycle...everyone is super friendly and my CA listens to the dead like me and we have traded shows and such... he always try to go the extra mile even when not asked too.. i LOVE my dealer!!!! i just wish the Had Porsche b/c i think i am gonna get a turbo next in a couple years maybe after an m3!!! yyour dealer should have made that very clear to you!!!!! they should have been like "come back whenever you want to talk about your order or test drive again in case you want to make any changes!!" ie Active steering, active cruise, sport package and so on. hope all goes well!!! |

They should if you have a good relationship. I've driven just about every BMW made... just for fun. When the first 335i E92 came in, I asked if I could drive it - after telling them I had no intention of buying. They took it off the showroom floor for me and tossed me the keys.
You just have to keep a good rapport with your dealership, and let them know you're a loyal customer.

+1 on Ledzep's comments.
They should let you regardless, and you could always visit another dealer; but it helps to have a good relationship with your dealer.

If I were you, I'd go into the dealership you ordered from and test drive the same model. That way, you'll be sure of your purchase while you are waiting and waiting and waiting like the rest of us.
Plus, I'm pretty sure you can walk away from the deal until you sign a contract. I've heard 2 things lately that supports that. The dealer can always sell the car to someone else. Last edited by demosthenes; 01-14-2008 at 06:34 PM.. |

why do you all asume the negative? So far he has not even asked if he can drive...
Seeing the whole thing from the other end (working with BMW) I sometimes learrn that things that are very clear to me are a riddle to other people. My oppinion is as always: the best deal is if everybody is happy. And: the more fun you have at work, the better you get paid.

I went to the dealership today to talk to the business manager....and my CA asked if I wanted to take a car for a test drive while I waited. He handed me dealer plates and keys, and said see you in 15min.

If anything, sales people want you to drive their cars. Let's face it, how many vehicles are impulse buys, especially given the widespread use of leasing. When my Nissan was 14 mos. old and I was in for an oil change (let them do it for 60k until warranty gone), a sales guy said, "Why do you want to drive home in that old car when we can get you into a new one this afternoon?" I'm sure BMW is no different, maybe you've ordered a 335 sedan and you impulsively get a coupe which means more $$$, or a 535, or a M, or whatever.
