Size matters? LOL

My wife traded in her ol' Mazda 3 last week and picked up a 2017 Passat SE with Technology. We sat inside it at the dealership and instantly noted how big the interior was compared to her Mazda. We have two boys (8 and 10) who are at that "he's bothering/looking at/bumping/punching me" stage lol and so having this much new space was a selling point for the car. Didn't realize just how big it was overall though...until we got it home and parked it in the garage next to my BMW. Height, width, length. Umm, yeah. That's a huuuuuuge bitch!

There IS a reason why this version of the Passat was designed for the American market. Many Germans are pissed that the US Passat is so much nicer(& cheaper, much cheaper!!) than the German model.

Congrats on the new car!

An atonement for "dieselgate"?

There IS a reason why this version of the Passat is cheaper, much cheaper: it's a piece of junk compared to the German version! Seriously, the German one is much nicer. The tech is no comparison.

I've always had a soft spot for VWs. Very handsome cars that feel more like downgraded Audis than "standard transportation" like its competitors. One of my neighbors has the same Passat in the same color and I always do a double take when I see it.

Congrats on the purchase. Very nice choice of cars.

Have you had the chance to sit in a Jetta as well?
I am curious if Passat interior material quality is better or if it has that plasticky feel like the Jetta.

I just saw a white 3er with the exact same stripe on i95 in Stamford CT this morning. I was thinking to myself... man, that looks so familiar!

Thank you! No, we did not sit in the Jetta so don't have a contrast to offer. I can tell you the Passat doesn't feel "plasticy" at all. We got the 1.8T SE with Tech so it's not actual cow hide. It's their synthetic leather - but feels very nice. The faux wood grain console and surrounding areas has a nice grayish wood grain look to it. Very rich and not cheap looking.

The tech in this thing is truly something. Lots of cool stuff that used to be options that were $$ (adaptive cruise, full LED headlights and tail lights, heated seats - the rears too, navigation, push button start/stop, remote start - from the key FOB, etc). Plus it's getting 36 ish mpg so far!

Yeah, there are a few in this area as well. I've seen a silver and also white F30 with the stripes and a white E90 series with them too.

Mine has the replica M3 front so it's still just a little different. But I've been contemplating a new design with wrap.

Of all the cheap full-sized sedans in the US I think the Passat is the nicest, good choice.

Wonder how many clocks it has within the drivers arm reach. I bet at least 3.

My CC has three and I use each one, though I could live without two of them.
