Anybody owned a jaguar xfr?
Been looking at M3's but rapidly becoming seduced by the Jaguar XFRs 5.0L V8 which churns out 540bhp and is cheaper to buy, insure, service and run than the E92 M3 and is more practical for me.
Anybody got any experience with the XFR? What's it like to live with? Always thought I'd forever be a BMW guy but this is starting to sway me

I've not owned one, but have been in several. A good friend of mine was involved in the development of the XFR and XFR-S.
As a car, they're very nicely put together and feel solid and planted. They sound great and do go like stink. Put it this way, I had both E39 and E60 M5, and the XFR is easily a match performance wise. I think they make a great proposition. Running costs will still be high, think high teens mpg, but they do offer a proper alternative to the BMW especially if you need more doors etc. |

Thanks, interesting to hear. Not too fussed about mpg figures as I don't anticipate having it for a long time.
I'm young-ish and getting to that point where I can make one last splash on a fast car before life gets in the way and I have to save up for a wedding etc and the inevitable dad van. How does the sound note of the jag's V8 compare to the M5's V10? I love the sound of the M3 but haven't heard much else. |

The Jag is louder than the E60. The V8 has a lower tone, but sounds good all the way through the rev range. The V10 comes alive above 4k rpm, and has a 'cleaner' note. It also has about 2k rpm more to play with at the top end if I remember correctly.
The Jag does sound ace on cold start up too, whereas the BMW is a bit flat. The M3 on the other hand, sounds much better than the M5 during the cold start cycle. |

Ive been in a few XF, and im not too keen on the interiors.
If your looking for a car that's a final swansong before boring stuff gets in the way its got to be an M3!! if you ge t a comp pack you dont even have to mod it.... much |
