Here's a few more threads for the M3 arms (rear as well):
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...owerks+M3+arms http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230973 I do plan to change the rears when required but then I already have the diff lock, quaiffe, M3 subframe bushes, ARB and Ohlins too so generally the rear is pretty good now anyway.

Got a sticky caliper to replace tonight. Then put on the summer wheels and get the control rods fitted. Then take it for alignment. Looks like 335i alignment but with M3 camber is suggested. On my car I suppose I need to do a dual clutch upgrade, suspension, springs and sound system. I can probably live with not doing those things for a while as I have the rear diff lock down as well and the clutch seems to be holding ok at somewhere around 530WHP. Fingers crossed nothing breaks though, as always!

I've just done too but for the extension LOL. House first this year now as I have done a fair bit to the car so far. Alignment sounds about right as you will just gain the extra camber but just keep everything else within spec.

Well I spoke too soon. Had the car up on the jack stands to replace that rear caliper and noticed it looks like my transmission is leaking yet again. The undertray is covered in fluid. Don't think it's engine oil as the level has stayed normal. Last time the turbos went in I did notice the transmission pan looked wet. Replaced that about 2 years ago at a cost of something like £375 for tray, screws (~13 stretch bolts) and the £22 per litre DCT fluid. Can't be putting up with this nonsense. Aluminium trays are something stupid like £1500.
Hopefully still get the arms on and see if I can get a look under the car while the fitter has it on the ramp.

Somewhere north of 500WHP and 500WTRQ. I don't see many M5s suffering this issue and they apparently run the same DCT oil pan etc. When I had mine done I'm sure the technician said the new design was not supposed to leak so maybe it's a seal on a hose or the other gasket on the machatronic. Anyway. First plan is to top it up with Pentosin FFL04 fluid.

Well got the control arms fitted on Friday and then drove over to an alignment place. They tried to do the work but it seems like the tie rods are seized. They hit the bolt with a torch but it wouldn't shift. I could probably soak it in penetrating fluid overnight.
I've ordered the whole track rod assembly (TRW again) but it's going to be about a week before it's here. Being al out of alignment the car feels crazy to drive! Tram lines like mad and corners like a Lada.

If it's really bad the tyres might wear out very quickly. Try not too drive too much. Mine were down to the wires once in about a week. But it was very bad.

Yes they tried a torch on one but they were in a bit of a rush so it may have been a half hearted effort.
My parts wont be here for about a week so I could try some penetrating fluid and another garage.

Took a trip to another garage. They also said BMWs are notorius for having seized bits needed for wheel alignment adjustment.
Just wondering now if anyone knows what may potentially be seized in the rear. I'm about to start googling.....

Tbf I think the tie rods are the only thing that regularly seize up due to their nature of movement/design. All other mountings are via bolt/nut design so not too bad to release.

Before this the toe was so far out that the car was a driving death trap. Now the shit part. I told the guy there I wanted around 1.8 on the front. They called me to say the rear bolts have siezed inside the bush as well so adjustment was difficult. They've aligned the car back to fkin standard specs at the front though and the manager there was giving me nonsense about how going beyond spec would make the car undrivable and wear faster. So the whole point of this 3 week slog to get more camber at the front has resulted in nothing. I'll have to find a place tomorrow that can get my front wheels cambered to what I want. Give me patience! I don't suppose there's some way I can do the camber myself?

Sorry to hear of more woes Jack.
Yup pull get there innthe end I'm sure. As for camber on the fronts, well are you running standard top mounts etc or adjustable camber plates? If standard top mounts then just fitting the M3 arms will automatically have dialled in the extra camber. After that you can remove the top mount mounting pin and push the top over as far as it will and that's it. That should give you about -1.2ish degrees I believe.

I was in a rush to get back to work. I should have got them to set it back to 1.2. I have the standard top mounts but I told the tech knock the pins out if necessary. Only good thing is the car feels safe to drive again now it's aligned. Just need this camber. |

Tbf the toe even should be ok with just the adjustment of the camber.

So I'm going to go back today and see if the first place will just put the camber back. If not I could as you say give it a go myself or find a regular garage that doesn't think they are elite specialists. I'm annoyed I didn't argue it at the time but I'd literally gone from work at 4pm to pick up my car and drive straight back to the office wasting as little time as possible. To ask for as much camber as possible and then to be given stock settings when I don't even have stock components on seems stupid.

They've said they'll have a go at setting the camber back to 1.2 on Wednesday.
How can I live without camber in my life!?

Tbh most will only try and set a car to as close to standard spec as possible as that's what they are paid to do and they work to what the machine tells them is the correct setting from factory for that particular car.
But yeah I'd do it myself buddy as you've seen from that vid.
