SCR ACTIVE TANK WARRANTY EXTENSION NOW INCLUDES 09-11 335d
Reposting from another forum. Much thanks to "Jim E".
I had my DEF tank replaced a few months ago, at 117,xxx miles or so. Now I get the pleasure of fighting BMWNA to reimburse me. Especially tough as I had it done at an Indy. PS: I'm just turned over 120K this last week. I guess that's good. "2009-2011 335d has now been added to the limited warranty extension of 10 years/120,000 miles covering the SCR Active Tank. If this is old news, my apologies in advance. 335d SCR 10 Year Warranty Extension.pdf" |

Great. Is there a way to see all of the items included in these extended warranties?
Has anyone seen this recall for the EGR valve? http://cache.bmwusa.com/Pdf_9146e1a2...d23ffb360.arox Last edited by Major_90; 05-28-2017 at 11:46 AM.. Reason: Link |

I just received my letter too. Dealer told me the previous owner had the SCR tank replaced sometime right before I bought the car. However car started throwing SES lights again after another ~10k or so.
I am also curious if SCR valves and the such are included in the extension. That was my first step after the first SES and before I knew a dealer had previously replaced the tank. |

Is there a good way to know what recalls still pertain or warranty repairs apply to your vehicle which are currently still active / unfixed? I assume we would be able to get all that from the dealer and not just rely on the snail mail that randomly tells us.
Not that this one pertains anyway, since I'm illiterate

They want repair orders (with all info: VIN, mileage, etc.), copy of the cancelled check or credit card payment. My letter that I received today. I've got the docs and credit card slips. One is for the SCR the other is for the NOx sensors that failed a week after getting the car back. Finger crossing mode engaged.

This is great news for those in emissions states. I received the letter as well but i fully deleted before this became an issue thankfully.

I submitted my paperwork (PDFs) this morning. I had called asking about the second RO that had the NOx sensors. Rep said to mention or make sure that's noted in the RO. That second RO does mention the SCR being done a week earlier. I hope all gets reimbursed.

How far over? You might want to reach out to BMW since it is now a known failure.

Hello All, Here in California, I believe there is a 2yr parts and labor warranty for work done? Applies to other states? So in case some work was done to the SCR tank, and now mileage is over 120K, they may still be 'on the hook' to fix, with minimal $ from 335d owner.. i.e. $0 rather than $x,xxx.xx (I've had several SCR tanl and NOx codes from 91K~108K, was able to fix them myself, now been MIL free for 10K..now at 122K though) Now question is how to approach BMW for all work done on my own (40+hours) and parts purchased (SCR injector, NOx sensor)..(tank was modified per forum technique of thermocouple bypass )..etc..etc..? Will BMW install a new tank, even am at 122K? I have documentation showing dealer visits at 92K and 108K with codes. And many dated screenshots with codes. Regards, |

Good that BMW stepped in, rather late, but they stepped up. Very similar components are in the X5d, the X5d received a recall, I believe, and campaign for SCR system / tank; However the 335d had not until now. Not sure how BMW rationalize that, technically. Slowly, it is all adding up now, it is possible that buildup in the vent port of the SCR tank pump leads to lesser pump efficiency of pump and SCR injection and therefore NOx related codes. (in my case I cleaned buildup, changed fluid, new SCR injector, and new/used front Nox - and codes were gone) (also had the tank thermoucouple code - which I bypassed; but we can say treat as 'unrelated' for time being) Regards, |

Got my letter last week, but way too late to be helpful.
I am at 136000 miles, with a bad tank for the past 2 years (maybe around 100,000 miles). I doubt they can help with anything. If it cost me $1 I am not interested in fixing anything. The car works fine just the way it is. I don't have to fill up the DEF tank at all. |
