Clutch Lighter After CDV Delete
So I finally got around to doing the CDV delete today after having the CDV sit in my house for the past 6 months. Definitely a great change. No more thud noise / jerk when pressing in the clutch at low rpm's in 1st gear and gear changes are just way smoother. My clutch does feel a little bit lighter than it used to feel though. I used a pressure bleeder and made sure all the air was out.
Is this normal normal or did I possibly mess something up? Clutch springs back up and engages just fine. |

Based on my experience, even if you used pressure bleeder, it will take a day or two of normal driving for the pedal to firm up nicely

Why CDVD is needed? I have done few and only remove the existing CDV. On XI you need to massage the line a little bit on RWD is super easy. Also, I use vaccum pump to pull the fluid through the bleeder. I don't use bleeder from the top of the brake fluid reservoir under the hood.

I felt the same thing, pedal was a bit lighter.
Also, shifting feels a lot better due to the timing of the "clamping" of the PP. It is up to YOU to control it now rather than being forced to soft engage and be stuck with that delay. I find it best to take the car out of gear as the pedal is about 1/3 of the way down. It comes out with less force and goes into the next gear with less force....then you have to manage your throttle position to find what works best for your style. Overall, low rpm shifting in this car is really jerky unless you slip clutch or the planets align. Deleting the CDV helped a lot, but other cars are just way easier to drive smoothly. High rpm shifts are still butter though on this thing. |

I was looking at mine while I was doing the trans fluid change and couldn't figure it out. I wasn't getting the part where you "just reconnect" the lines while deleting the middle part.

We can do that, but you need to call Dave and Zeckhaussen Racing to get the part for doing the delete properly. If you drill them out they will leak as they don't seal properly.
Dave has a way of doing it without messing up the seat for the seal. |
